Actually the suggestion was made after seeing several Ford products with the broad stripes in satin black finish (Mustangs, pickups, and one outrageous Ford GT). I'm just not a fan of the tapering hood graphic. Anyway if the adding broader stripes to the C7 reminds you of the Viper then I would reason the basic design probably already does that.

Not a photoshop guy so I cannot do a cg image, but as soon someone produces a 3d cad model I'll give it a look see.
