I assume the "estimated" is to provide cover if it actually comes in a little lower. GM is not known to understate (or be especially truthful).

Thanks JOE. Idiot makes a comment, gets called on it, its in black and white and then he denies it when he realizes he has no reasonable reply to said post. What a loser.

I was speaking the truth. Red had 2 mini meltdown posts because of a simple comment I made about the C7 being better. Not all are, but whatever has to make him feel better.

Harken back to the '70 Vette and the L46 350/350. (Just numerology )

Yep and if it's 100 lbs heavier, pretty much negates the extra 14HP, assuming those 450/450 #'s are correct.

If so, looking at dead even with an LS3 basically.

This reminds me of when the 2001 Mustang Bullitt came out...slightly higher HP, but people were claiming "Yeah but look at the area under the curve!!"...what, is that going to give it 100 more HP? Guess what, it ran the same times as a regular manual Mustang GT lol .

This is a bummer for me too. I wanted to jump to the C6Z, but the continual weekly threads of "another blown engine" in that forum has scared me away, then the recent #'s for the C7 vette...0-60 in 3.9...woop dee doo, same as an '02+ C5Z, which is what I drive now. Erg, Chevy really does not want my upgrade money lol.

Best bang for the buck is looking like it hasn't changed the last couple of years .... mid 30's for a new 400+HP GT, low 20's for a used 405HP C5Z...

GM played the 0-60 game with C6 GS, using former Z51 gearing and wider tires, the top end speed gave in the process due to greater drag but this does not make a difference to majority of vette owners anyway. Seems like this is what is happening with C7 as well. Not sure what the top speed of C7 actually is but it has to be lower than LS3 base

If you do not midify the engine in Z06 or put a blower on it, the Z06 LS7 is a very good motor actually as is the rest of that car, the pinnacle of vettes for many years to come, including C7 and C6 ZR1. The car is an absolute blast to drive and can be had for very reasonable money these days.

You must believe in the Wizard of Oz.... The difference in torque, which is just as important as horsepower, will leave the LS3 a few lengths behind. 14hp can be the difference in winning and loosing a NASCAR race, the 100 lbs heavier is pure speculation, in my opinion the LT1 C7 will win any race against an LS3.

I want something that pulls hard, but keeps pulling harder as the revs build. I'll be curious to see if that is the case with the C7.
I have a H-D Night Train and a BMW R1200RT. Whenever I ride the BMW, which is torque-weak coming off idle, I miss that H-D gut-wrenching, pavement-rippling off-idle torque that makes it so easy to pull away from a stop when two-up and fully loaded. When I ride the H-D, I have never once missed the BMW's superior peak hp. Out in the real world, on the street, torque makes life enjoyable and effortless, not peak hp...

I couldn't give you a break, so I gave you punctuation, and better spelling and word usage instead. I hope you don't mind...

This car is going to be awesome, no matter if it is "only" 450 hp I'll take one.

Its a BASE Corvette, Sorry they are only bumping the hp a signifigant amount from one model year to another. I am sure half the people here never use all the HP and wouldn't know how to use it and 90% of the people not on here will never use it all. They are adding HP while increasing fuel economy. Damn GM, you suck.
