Why be rude? Really, why be rude? Is the continued recovery of the economy assured? Is the health of the economy ever assured? If the economy tanks for some reason 6 months from now, what will the effect be on Corvette sales?
#46
its not going to tank. Corrections in the market might and will occur. But the situation is hardly like it was the last time.

I wish they would only produce 5000 units anyway! Why do they have to sell so many it's my biggest gripe about the brand. I would gladly pay 10-15% more for exclusivity!
I much prefer low production numbers!

OK lets say you pay $75,000 for a loaded C7 (just an estimate) marked it up 15% and you will pay $86,250. GM cannot survive selling only 5,000 units at that price.

GM will have no problem sellings tons of new C7's. The operative word here is NEW. Here's an analogy that I think all will get. When Chevy Chase is riding down the highway with his wife ( Beverly D'Angelo) & Christie Brinkley comes crusing by in the red Ferrari( we all remember that scene), Chevy reacted just like any other guy would ( at least in our minds, so as not to be in trouble with the missus). Why ? Cause it's something new & Christie was ( & still is ) a 10 in just about any guy's book. So arguably C6 owners already drive 10's, especially the Z06's, ZR1's, Callaway's, Lingenfelter's, etc., but many( along with buyers new to the corvette) will be unloading their C6's as well as C5's etc & flocking to the new hot item, the C7. I plan to hold unto my LPE C6 until at least the 3rd or 4th production year of the C7, but I'm just as susceptible to the charms of a new hot model as the next vette nut, so who knows.

I think C7 sales will be no different then any new year/GEN Vette.I doubt they will ever see 35-40,000 a year though.I know I'm not buying one because of looks and whatever and I don't think I'm alone in that regard.Anyway, at the price point it will probably come in at,they can forget the younger buyers they are looking for.Time will tell, but I'm not seeing it.Yes,record car sales here and there, but record sales of what?Civics,Accords, and family cars and trucks..not sports cars.

Hope you are right in your opinion that it is not going to tank. Optimism is a good thing. World politics, economics and catastrophic manmade and even natural disasters can intervene in unpredictable ways. Same as it always was EXCEPT that we live more and more in a WORLD economy and all the unpredictable and uncontrollable factors that brings into play.

I hope they sell a pile, but if they don't, I don't really think the Corvette enthusiasts are all screwed.
There are tons of Vettes around, aftermarket industry, parts out the yingyang, and mechanics all over the place. Corvettes will be around til there aint any more cars.

I think the 19th century Irish writer Oscar Wilde was (aptly) credited with saying, "The basis of optimism is sheer terror."

The year of selling 40k units is a thing of the past because the economy for "toy" cars like the Vette is a thing of the past.
