Life's a'changin', that's for sure. My baby is closing in on 260K miles, still on the original drivetrain except for the clutch (pressure plate broke and wouldn't disengage).
I've retired and we're now up in Hot Springs. I'm working with my dad and brother, getting used to living on about a third of our previous income.
You ought to get a bunch together and come up to the Hot Springs corvette meet later this year! I'll find out the details and shoot Terry an email.
Oh, and to keep this post relevant, I think GM will sell somewhere north of 20K units this MY.
Have a good one,
Mike

If "sealerships" didn't try to add that market adjust to the MSRP price GM would most likely sell more.
And if GM wants to sell as many as predicted then why have some smaller dealers without allocation? This allocation scenario doesn't make sense to me unless GM is unable to produce what the market demands. From what they are saying it sounds like they can produce more than the market is demanding.

10K will not be a problem at all with all the hype. The problem will probly be if they can keep up with demand. Thats why dealers add to MSRP because they know there are people out there that will pay it so they wont have to wait.

There are a few factors to consider here.
First, is the economy and although it appears to be turning around somewhat that could change before the C7 hits the show room. If that happens all bets are off.
Second is how long it takes for the convertible to be available. We know it will be after the coupe is on the street. If GM is late in getting it out, that may slow sales.
Third is will some buyers sit back and wait for the more powerful high performance version to come and although we have no idea when that may be.
Forth, will some buyers want to wait and see if there are issues/bugs in the new design and then opt out for a 2015 model year.
Finally I would think the 10,000 units are very possible with all thing considered, but that was a post a week back the predicted 37,000 units and that I don't see.

Your dreaming, or your heads in the clouds
GM may build that many, but they'll be sitting on dealers lots next to all the C6's that didn't sell because of the ECONOMY, which will take another dive when O's healthcare kicks in!
I like the C7 and will probably get one 2 years after the Z06 bugs are worked out of what GM says is a totally new design, new concept, new motor, new transmission, and all new parts, except 2. History shows that the first year isn't the best for sales for most new products. Yes, some take off, but not at over 60K or more.

While the first year of C6 production was over 30,000 units; it is doubtful that the C7 even with all the hype will do so.
I hope that I am wrong bceause GM really needs its "halo" car to be a big hit.
More importantly, I would be very interested in the various age groups that purchase the C7

10,000 units is a blink of the eye given - hell it will take that many just to satisfy the "I've gotta have it because it the latest greatest version" crowd.
I would not bet it will match the C6 sales numbers for the first couple years, but if the economy doesn't further tank, my gut is that it will meet or exceed those numbers
