Default Torch Red seen on Leno, Today show

OK is it safe to assume the Torch Red car was a 3LT that had just about every option available?

Does this car have the Carbon Fiber Roof or the Carbon Fiber roof with body color surround?

Carbon Fiber Interior Package

What is the Custom Suede wrapped upper interior package? Better than Carbon Fiber?

Does the carbon flash painted spoiler and Mirror option indicate that the spoiler will be black, like seen on the yellow pic on this forum ? I personally like the spoiler to match the paint.

Can someone provide insight on the Magnetic Selective Ride Control?
Also on the Variable Tuned Performance exhaust

Obviously I'm new here so please don't TORCH me lol

.......YOU NEWCOMER! Possible and most likely a higher optioned car (3LT) Interior materials, Suede or CF just different, not better or more tasteful. Ride control a combo of electronic/ mechanical suspension control that is noticeably smoother to the driver. Perf Exhaust.... controling outlet pressure of exhaust pulse resulting in a meaner, pleasing note. Read more about these options here (somewhere).

Remember that this is an all new car and only the preliminary options list has been released. From what we know, all of the options are not yet finalized.

As with the other thread you posted I encourage you to contact a Forum dealer like Dave at Kerbeck as he can answer your questions thoroughly and with the latest official information.

Anything we tell you now will be a guess and subject to all sorts of change between now and the July/August release of saleable cars.

It has been stated by GM that the driver will have control of five different handling selections at the turn of the ride control ****. You will have to purchase Z51 and magnetic ride to get these selections. I'm inclined to believe that the sound of the exhaust, if performance exhaust option is installed, also changes with the different handling selections.

Yes, it was a 3LT Z51 optioned car.

It has the carbon fiber roof with body colored surround. The carbon fiber roof is standard on all Stingray models, it will either be painted all body color or like it was on the torch red car with exposed and clear coated carbon fiber with body colored accents at the edges.

The suede interior is different than the carbon fiber option. The carbon fiber option will add carbon fiber panels to the instrument panel and center stack (this is what was on the Torch red show car.) The suede wrapped interior will add alcantara accents to the wheel, the shifter, the center console as accented trim pieces.

Carbon flash is a metallic gloss black paint (it was the primary color on the 2012 Centennial editions). That option will show the car with black mirrors and spoilers instead of body colored.

MSRC on the C7 is the next generation of the magnetic ride control suspension that is currently referred to as the F55 on the C6. The system in its current incarnation has two modes, sport for a firmer ride and tighter cornering and tour for a softer ride. The shocks are like traditional shocks but they are filled with a magnetically active fluid. This fluid called magnetorheological, has iron particles suspended in the fluid. Outside the shock body there are electromagnets attached that are used to align the iron particles in the shock and by moving the particles they change the apparent viscosity of the fluid which in turn causes a softer or firmer shock bump and rebound.

The shock also has an active component in that sensors on the shock body monitor the movement of the shock and again by changing the viscosity of the fluid with the magnets work to keep the wheels on the road surface during periods of uneven terrain and bumps. By changing the way the shock moves it can help it react to changing road conditions and isolate the driver from those changes by adjusting the shocks. It makes these readings and adjustments 1,000 times per second.

The last component of the MSRC (magnetic selective ride control) is it's integration with the active handling system. During hard cornering or periods when the car is losing traction the system will firm up or soften a particular shock to aide in regaining traction or helping with the turn.

The implementation of the MSRC in the C7 is more advanced and interacts with more systems and is user configurable with changes to the driver selected mode (using the mode switch on the center console, Weather, ECO, Tour, Sport and Track). The same can be said for the exhaust system. It is a take off from the current NPP system which was used to offer a little better performance under certain circumstances and was controlled with vacuum pressure, RPM and throttle position. The new system is solenoid controlled and again varies its operation with the different modes on the driver selection switch.

Thanks again Paul, for the great explanation and info. Can't wait.
