You know what I am talking about. Chrome dripping off every piece of body work. Or the dreaded louvered tail light covers. Probably not. Just wishful thinking.

I'm sure the aftermarket suppliers will find all manner of tasteless gee-gaws to take some $$$ from your wallet.
For me, the first "mod" will be to remove the "stingray" badges. I might find someplace else inside the car to put 'em, but I don't like the placement - they just look like an afterthought.
Tacky is in the eye of the beholder. Guys were/are getting their wheels painted black on C6's & some think that is tacky while others define it as the best thing ever. Almost everything is a fad. My bet is more mods will be made to C7's if they do attract a younger market. If you wonder what those mods will likely be, just look at cars in the past those same younger buyers made.

I sure hope so, but probably not.

There is no accounting for taste. I am always amazed at the C5 stuff. You can Chrome anything on that car with a catalog. I defend the rights of people to do that it is their car!
My wife is older now I was thinking having her chromed. I should be careful she might have me done. Chrome would change my need for Viagra.
With all the vents all over the car, and the bigger emblem (both the Corvette and the Stingray emblems), I think GM has a good start on providing the tacky mods from the factory. That is my biggest complaint with the C7. It has a very Japanese look to all the surface clutter. The basic shape looks great to me.

I'm sure the vendors supporting CF appreciate your wisdom and advice to just go away. Oh...wait, that's right! People who just keep everything dull have a tremendous impact in the Auto realm. What a joke.

Oh no, I'm sure the aftermarket is already in full swing.
sadly there is a small minority of owners that are the Walmart, Honey Boo Boo, Beverly Hill Billy crowd or whatever you want to call them that do this.
The pathetic part is that they think putting cheap plastic around your taillights, license plate, most stripes, cheap plastic add-ons, fuzzy dice, etc. etc. look good or cool somehow. You don't see these tacky $hit on other high high brand vehicles. It tarnishes the brand as a whole!!!
I see less with each new generation but they are still there. Hopefully with the C7 they will go away. GM should pay them to go to another brand lol.

One of the first things I did when I purchased my C6 Z06 was to paint the rear spoiler and the door handles Cyber Gray(exterior color of my car) as the black items looked tacky and add on.
The C7 one upped the C6 by adding even more black plastic, tacky add on's.
There will be some that will chrome plate the tacky black plastic vents, but I suspect that many will have their black plastic vents painted the body color, so they don't look like they were applied by JC Whitney instead of GM.

What you call clutter is what designers call complex surfacing. Its been catching on at most all companies so the C7 having various types of surfaces shouldn't be unexpected. It something that has popped up in styling trends during the C6 model run.
Yes, the same people who whine about the C7 will be the first to 'tackify' it, just as so many have tackified the last few generations of Corvette. They will also be the first to parade that tackiness around here in the C7 forum asking "what do you think?" and then complaining when they get a real opinion.
