When did the C7 General Discussion become someone's section? The vehicle hasn't been released yet, nor has final specs, etc. No one owns one yet, so all discussion is speculative. The loudest C7 fan, may be the last person to ever own one. Over enthusiastic assumptions are no more valuable than "negative thoughts". In fact, the negativity may be the basis for positive change. You can bet that many aspects of the C7 are the result of negative thoughts of previous owners and prospective buyers. Otherwise, there would never have been the impetus for the C7. If everyone was happy with the c6, c5, etc. there never would have been a new version.
Going to an existing section and saying you think the C1 is crap is a personal opinion about a vehicle owned by an individual. Coming to the C7 section and saying the Stingray medallion sticky taped to the side of the greatest innovation in Corvettes looks like a cheap Cracker Jack's toy is only a shot at GM.

As long as we're counting, the difference in ratings was 15 HP, not 25 HP. Sorry to be touchy about this, but the LT4 already got short-changed in the rating department, without stretching it even more. If a '97 LS1 really was noticeably quicker than a '96 LT4, then it must have had a gearing advantage. Weren't their weights similar?

I don't know what the gearing was on the LT4's ZF6. But the LS1 car was still definitely faster. I don't think it had anything to do with gearing as much as the huge leap in suspension and mechanical grip. The C5 was quite a bit faster on the track than the LT4.
