Road & Track said $56K for base msrp
For what it's worth Road and Track said the new C7 is going to be about $56K, about $5K more then the outgoing C6 base car. They did say it was a "current estimate" though. At this point +/- $1K is not going to make much of a difference. The expected performance should easily be worth the additional $5K or so. They kind of hinted some of the performance is between the GS and Z06. They said faster lap times then a GS. The C7 Z51 brakes swept area outstrips the ZR1 by 6%.

Not buying it. That's still out of "If you can afford the C6, then you can afford the C7."

Guessing is right. I turned a few more pages and the author of a different article said GM is expected to "hold the line on current pricing, just over $50K for a base coupe". I guess we have to wait and hear it from GM. The article said GM bought a GTR, R8, M3, 911S to benchmark.

Honest question -- when did GM say it would cost in the very low 50s?
My guess was 53-54K, and I hope it doesn't cost anymore than that, so I would be very happy to know that GM "confirmed" that themselves.
Also, if you guys recall, C&D "estimated" that the base price would be $53K. So that gives us 59, 56, and 53... Likely three equally clueless estimates, but who knows.

That's my guess as well.
As low as $52,500.00 and as high as $53,900.00 I'm thinkin'.

Don't believe me? You can Google the following facts:
1) Jobs are on the rise. Unemployment down to 7% from 14% 4 years ago.
2) Wall Street is doing EXTREMELY well right now.
3) Housing market is on its way up again.
4) Medium and Large businesses are having record high profits.
These are all very important factors in deciding if we're in a recession let alone worse off than we were 4 years ago. I'm not sure where you get your news, but it may be time to find another source. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you watch some sort of conservative entertainment station - lets call it, "Fox" - and you actually believe what they're telling you, despite reality.

Look again. You're wrong. We're actually doing a lot better right now than we were 4 years ago. (By a long shot)

I think the unemployment numbers are skewed, because many out there are STILL unemployed, but are no longer covered under unemployment benefits. Therefore they do not get 'counted' as being part of the unemployment statistic.
But back on topic; I feel GM could do no wrong if we could get a base 1LT for US$49,995 and a Z51/MSRC/VTPE 3LT for US$69,995…

By no measure are we "doing better". The Corvette IS price sensitive, especially now. I believe we will see off-msrp deals sooner on the C7 than any new generation.
