Default Well I may not get my C7 now because of my dealership...

*******UPDATE: I am going to be taken care of and the dealership is doing the right thing. Thank you to everyone who offered advice! *******

Hello all,

I am in communication with the dealership before I post all the information.

Long story short I have an emailed agreement for a waiting list from my dealer stating I would be first on their list and would pay MSRP.

I told them I would pay a deposit a year and a half ago and they said not yet but they would let me know when they needed them.

I followed up 4-6 times over the year and a half to confirm the info was all correct and they confirmed it. I followed up again today and they informed me it would now be 5000 over MSRP and that due to low launch numbers it will be a lottery to be "fair".

Tell the guy waiting two weeks in line at Apple his new Iphone purchase will be lottery and see how he reacts.

I could have gone to other dealers long before now but they confirmed bad information over and over again.

Now I have no car and my point in buying it was for new product development which is now going to cause my company profit loss.

I don't know what legal recourse I have at this point (probably none) but I wanted to gather other thoughts on the matter and see if anyone else thought I may be upset for no reason. At this point anywhere else I try to go is going to put me behind a huge list of people.

They told me initial allocation is 7000 units, can any of our other dealers step in and confirm that number? I am giving the dealer the opportunity to make good on their word but I fully plan to publish the dates, emails, etc if things go south so people can make their own decisions about this dealer.

Sad to say at this point I may not be getting a C7

Do you think contacting General Motors directly will do any good? This certainly seems like a very poor business decision.

I'd start contacting other dealers to see about getting on their list. The high-volume dealers will be the first to get the C7 Stingrays. Good luck.

They are a high volume Corvette dealer and without telling me they basically said their local "Corvette club" gets a $2000 discount off the $5000 over. Gee thanks only $3000 over MSRP! That is why I haven't posted their info yet.

Sounds to me like that local club is flexing their power to gain spots unfairly.

That sucks... but the fact that they wouldn't take a deposit from you should have been a big red flag.

There have been several dealers who are board sponsors posting here in the C7 forum that they are taking deposits now for C7's at MSRP. I'd dig through this forum and contact some of them. I think you could even arrange to have your new C7 delivered to the dealer giving you the run around just to spite them. They won't make a dime on the sale either so it would be a great way to show them how they blew it with you.

Here is a link to some of the threads. You will have to filter through the ones that don't apply. Keyword in this search was "Orders". There was one listed under keyword "Deposit"

All dealers are independently owned and unlike Apple, GM does not have much say in how much they charge unfortunately.

Keep in mind they are in the business of making money but if given the chance they will screw you out of more money. I would try one of the supporting dealers on here. I have bought a car from one of them (won't reveal the name) which was out of state and the transaction was fairly easy and the car was shipped all detailed and clean in an enclosed truck.

It's actually a very special feeling seeing the trailer open and seeing your car coming off.

3000 dealers, but 3000 dealers with ever growing waiting lists.

Sounds like WIN chevy LOL! Get on one of ours sponsors lists ASAP the only other chance worth giving them is one more conversation tomorrow that would include a written contract. My friend just had an awesome experience with boardwalk who is in CA. I nice 6 hours cruise up the coast.

I will check it out but if allocation is that low the ten this dealer says they are getting could be true. I am sure more than ten people have already placed deposits but I will try reaching out.

They said lower volume dealers won't get any and this is why I chose them to begin with.

Walk into you dealer and tell them they just lost a customer. There are CF dealers who would be happy to take your order at MRSP

I have also heard good things about Boardwalk. I will reach out to some dealers tomorrow and see what they can do.

This dealer now also asked for my "qualifications" to buy the car. Really? It is a Corvette not a Ferrari and the Escalade left open on your lot has an MSRP $30k higher. Give me a break...

So, let us know who they are so we can stay away from them.

You beat me to the punch. Even if a forum dealer is a couple hundred miles away, you have a great excuse to take your new car for a nice long ride. Can't think of a better way to spend a couple days.

Just as predicted ... price gouging by some "stealerships" will occur.

I'm #4 on the waiting list at Rick Hendricks, they aren't taking deposits until they get a price and more information about the StingRay in general. Even then the deposit is still refundable once made.

Qualifications to buy a car, in order to just leave a deposit? Yeah time to leave that dealer Hell if you didn't have it already you can save up that amount by the time they hit the dealers.

Really...Just wait a year and you will find one. You may find you don't even like the way they look in person so why the big drama before you even see one.

Wonder what kind of deal you will get? Seem to be a little spendy compared to others.
