You are usually right on the money. But, seventygrand is not a bargain. Every new generation is better than the one it replaced. That is no reason to nail us with a very large increase in price. The Corvette has always been the best bang for the buck.

Regardless how much better it is than the C6, there is a price point whereasprice becomes a important factor; even considering discretionary funds. Pricing the Corvette in European foreign car territory does not necessarily make it more attractive to those who purchase that type of car.

It will however make those of us loyal older Corvette customes think a bit more carefully before we choose to upgrade...even if we can afford it.

I can understand GM looking to replace its aging customers but in its attempt going upscale to attract the affluent younger individuals it may loose a material amount of its current customer base in these economic times.

Well the 2014 is not going to be up to Ferrari performance standards. It is going to take a little more motor to get up to the 458 Italia that does 0-60 in 3.3 and the quarter mile in 11.3. at 450 hp even with the 450 torque, it will not turn those times.

Around $55K leaves a little wiggle room for GM if need when production gets started. I an sure they are hoping to keep it in that range and will do what ever they can to stay there. I am waiting to see what a 3LT Z51 is going to go for.

More acurately, they are pissed it is all the above and not priced less than a new loaded Silverado pick up, never mind a Yukon XL.

Yep, just like it's primary competitors the Camaro and Challenger. That is from American Muscle 101.

I was just thinking the same thing. Great guys here but it appears to be a hell of a car. Improvements from top to bottom inside and out and folks think it shoud be $50k. Impossible. My Jeep Grand Cherokee is in high 40s.

The Vette is probably going up a bit I think and hate to say it but rightfully so provided what they are giving you.

A loaded version and convertible are going to be interesting as we wait for price.

$59k for a base? Lets see. I want HUD, so have to add the 2LT package, lets say $2k, that's $61k, add the navigation, tax, title, destination charge, dealer fee...

Now, I'm over $70k for a base car. LOL!!! Get real!!! They will lose ALOT of sales if they go this route. Very dumb

Yes I understand that. A 3LT with most of the toys should go for approximately 65K. We are still talking a $ 5,000.00 increase almost 7%. That is a material increase in price

There are more toys and they are a lot better, the seats and materials are a lot better, and you're getting a significantly more powerful engine. Oh and lets not forget the brand new Michelins Sport tires. Hard to not see a significant increase to me.
