"IF" Given the Choice C6 ZR1 or New C7 Z51?

C7 Z51, it does not have the horsepower of the ZR1 but then again where are you going to use all that power Unless you live besides a track. and even then that's no guarantee you know how to use all that power and crash into a guardrail at the circuit. Not to mention you'll have Smokey up your *** giving you a ticket.
This horsepower war is getting out of hands like in the IT business Intel vs AMD Ghz war.
How much HP is enough? Its becoming nothing but a bragging status and nothing more. 80% of people driving these high HP powered cars don't even use the car to its limits, and those that try end up in Exotic Wrecks pages. http://www.wreckedexotics.com/corvette/

C6 ZR1 without the slightest hesitation. I'd take a C6 ZO7 and 427 Convertible over it to.
I'd take the C7 over the base C6 and GS...that's about it.
The C7 Z (or whatever they call it) needs to impress.

Putting aside price differences it is difficult to make a fair comparison without understanding the performance parameters that will be established by the new C7 with the Z 51 package.
Trying to compare 450 hp to almost 650 hp is definitely apples and oranges.
However, if the new LT 1 has much more power than what is being currently suggested by GM, and is in line with a lot of engineering experts who say it should 490 plus; being able to have 500 hp in a better handling car with a much nicer interior getting 30 miles per gallon is pretty nice.
Boils down to the unknown "if" factor

If its a case for the "bang for the buck" then I would say the ZR1 because its the old dog now and the deals will be amazing on them. It's also an amazing car in most every respect and few can argue with that. If time and money were not a big deal, I would wait for the C7 Z to come out and the ridiculous dealer market adjustments to disappear. In the end I feel the Z version of the C7 will be worlds better than the C6 but its all going to take time. I would not want a C7 of any flavor right now. Too much new stuff to be hammered out.

You know I thought about I this. You can find a ZR1 on eBay for 75k now for a 2009-10 with 15k mi about. If the Z51 package C7 comes out to 60-65k I might consider paying the extra 10k for the ZR1. I think it looks meaner and it is track proven will wipe the floor with a C7 any day for the week on and off track. Then I can trade up for the C7 ZR1 if it comes out in 4 years just like the last time. But if I can get the C7 below MSRP a Littleton then invoice at about 50k I would get the C7. For me it's all about dollars and cents and best bang for the buck!!!

I like to remove the roof so I'd go for the newly designed c7 z51 with MRC and competition seats. I believe the LT z51 optioned as described will cost below 62 grand. That's what I would buy. Even as great as the zr1 is.

I've already decided. If I get a C7 (I like the new one), it won't because b/c I've sold or traded my ZR1.
Having been able to enjoy my ZR for a couple years now, it would be the last of my three hot rods/sports cars to get rid of, and only then if my family was in some sort of financial distress. The ZR is just that good. Easy to drive, comfortable, great long distance cruiser, and its performance is out of this world. The ZR is a performance monster. And with its HRE P40 wheels and custom exhaust it looks and sounds great too.
If a C7 comes along that has equal or better perf, it would be the Callaway GS in garage (which I also love) that would move to make room for the C7. Not the ZR.

C7. It's a far better car, overall. The C6's interior REALLY looks sad after looking at the C7's. Since 99% of my driving doesn't involve 'ring like conditions, the extra hp of the ZR1 isn't worth the penalty for losing out on the leap in high end features the C7 offers. And, I now like the C7's looks better.
Besides, just filling the tank with E85 gives an extra 80hp for the C7, according to an anonymous, somewhat illiterate forum poster on ls1tech who says he's a GM engineer. Why would I question such a reliable source?

But, I like to drive cars more than look at them, so it would have to be the ZR1. However, if it were a situation were it was going to be my only car, I would rather have the C7 Z51.
Assuming we're talking about a purchase here...if we're talking about a gift, well that's easy.

C7.
You keep the old stuff.
I dont care how much the C6ZR1 costs or how much hp it has. The first time a C7 pulls up beside it, you + pretty much everyone else will be staring at it. And that feeling will only continue to happen.
