It is simply the refresh rate of the LED lights are out of synch with the shutter of the video cameras we have seen footage from.

Without the back panel body color, it makes the rear end "look" a mile high, even though it isn't.

This is why the black and the grey C7 vette's look better to me... the rear "looks" more integrated.

Painting a portion (not the whole thing) of the black panel body color would look better to me, kind of like the C6, which only has a small section of black.
