Just back from Detroit. Very disappointed.

Burning Brakes
The red C7 on the wall was not real - it was a shell. I was there too on Saturday. The crowd around the C7 was absolutely huge compared to anything else in the place - I actually felt sorry for a lot of the other newly designed cars that weren't attracting much attention.
Right near the entrance (and on the way to the C7) was the Acura NSX concept which looked fantastic - though hardly anyone was standing around looking...
The Cadillac ELR had quite a few people checking it out. The interesting part was most of those people were in the 16-26 year old group. I mentioned that to a couple friends with me and they said they had just been talking about that. Cadillac has definitely turned their image around in the past 10 years or so!
Chevrolet had an interesting Sonic sedan concept painted in a matte/satin white. It looked pretty cool, had a nice set of wheels & tires - I was told if enough interest was shown that they might start producing them. It could be an interesting daily driver. The paint was very cool.
I actually mistook the Infiniti Q-whatever for the new Mazda6 - both were fantastic looking. Their displays were next to each other and I saw the Mazda sign before I realized I was looking at an Infiniti.
I have absolutely no idea if anyone has mentioned this so I might be repeating old news (I can't read all of the forum all of the time) but the vents/scoops on the tops of the C7 rear fenders feed air thru ducts to transmission and differential coolers. I had assumed it was for the rear brakes. It will be an option - if you don't get the option the vents will still be there but blocked off and no ducts - I would assume no coolers either...
The leather on the seats feels MUCH better than on a C6...

I was there tonight from 700-830 PM.
That blond MILF in the tight dress @ the Vette display was OK........but the girls at the Maserati display were much, much, better.
Having said that, the Camaro's were right beside the Vette display and the yellow ZR1 was nice. Somehow, in yellow with black wheels, it didn't look as bad, as those cars really do. But, back to the C7's......well........the rear end was "projectile vomit" hideous in real life, as I have previously said here when referring to the photos. Looks just like the Camaro.....it is all wrong. The black vents and slats look like some 14 year old with a wet lump in his pants added them. And the Stingray emblem on the side doesn't work. Fix the rear end...............paint the vents and slats body color, and get rid of the sperm. Then you've got a winner....but now...it just plain sucks.

Racer, long time since we've connected and agreed on things. I've been absent for various reasons. You are dead on. I've seen the car. Damn thing coming off the van at Barrett-Jackson almost knocked me down. Wished it would so that I could make a damage claim and beat Rick Hendrick for the first one!
In the flesh, and it almost took mine, it is awesome. Certain angles, gorgeous. Camaro tail-lights? BS. Similar shape by design requirements to work in the functional vents. See the car in person, and you will realize the C7 tail-lights are much different and more up-scale than a Camaro.
Likely less than 1% of the naysayers have seen the car in the flesh. I have, and it's a Corvette!

Wasn't the NAIAS all about the C7? I know St Louis won't get a C7 for our auto show next week, but I'm sure they will have a ton of C6's on the floor. I doubt we'll get the new Impala and ELR.
St Louis is so "back waters" it sucks.
