I have a hunch that the final numbers for the base is going to be in the 470hp range and another 50lbs or so shaved off.

Is he counting that little black thing in the center of the rear as being a "spolier" - or is this a pre-production car (that won't ever be exactly like that in production trim) where they were experimenting with the cosmetics of not having a standard rear spoiler... and decided against spoiler'less base trim?

That little black thing was indeed called a spoiler when GM stuck it on the back of a C6.

man the base rear looks hideous without the wing... if they only painted it all the color of the car... I loved it with the wing, however without the wing it looks very weird...

it's definitely not for me (wingless).

I don't see a rear spoiler on the options list - as a seperate option. I guess I'll have to install one myself on my base C7 1LT.

Wrong. At both speeds it houses the government mandated 3rd tail light. I would like to hear someone who truly understands aerodynamics tell us how many pounds of downforce that little black thing exerts at 180 mph. Downforce at 180 mph, a speed at which a picnic table would fly, is a GOOD THING.

According to GM, "every line has a purpose."

Happy to hear thy are trying to get weight out of the steel torque tube they had to use due to the cylinder deactivation vibrations.

Look into systems used in other sports cars from all over the world. You will apparently be VERY surprised. For example, the newest Lambos include automatic on/off.

The point being that it is a WORLD issue not unique to C7, Chevrolet, GM or United States auto makers in general. Enjoy your C6, I know I always have enjoyed my Corvettes.
