The real story about Europe, Corvettes, and Value
The Europeans pay $24 a Quart of Mobil 1 about $8.00 dollars a gallon for Gasoline and must have their cars inspected annually. A sports car is an expense and a luxury. Ask yourself if you would drive one with petrol and maintenance costing so much Look at the prices below and tell me how the C-7 isn't one of the best values on the planet.
I am an American with a long Term DOD Position in Germany I ordered one will take Museum delivery likely an LT3 Z51 and both tops and Mag ride If I get in August its a bonus, I will drive it to the port and pick it up in Bremerhaven slap plates on it and take the autobahn home, likely with a lap around the Nurburgring and Spa on the way home. did it in 08. I have several Porsches and a Z4M Roadster At what I figure will be $65K
Its a steal @ $65K thats 48K Euros A Porsche 911S with the Sport chrono, Metallic paint and similar Items even without the VAT it is 100K Euro. A Cayman 2014 with the options and no tax is 64,000K Euro and to really put a comparison to it all is a Standard Boxster with 295 HP a 6speed manual and Suspension and options to make it close to the Stingray and its $48K
So A Corvette Stingray or a Standard Boxster Same Money
Now do you see why ? I was at a BMW Dealer paying for some wipers and a decked M-3 with the competition pack and it was 124K Euro inc taxes
I am lucky, I can drive legally at the top speed of the Vette within 15 minutes of my house. I have a ton of backroads and drivers trainings, fun times after driving on the US Roads for the 2 months in summer when I want to get them driving lessons
The Corvette is not a lot of things but I will be proud to drive one on the roads over here, and I can stay with anyone. I will take the badges off the rear and blend in like all the other super sportscars over here.
Thank you GM

There must be a lot of Poor people in the EU. America is Still the Best place to live! Everywhere else is still playing catch up. I guess they need to listen for the "Pop" lol.

Really? And what do you base that on?
The GDP per capita for the U.S. is $49,000. In Germany it is $38,400. GDP per capita is a measure of average income per person. 15.5% of Germans are below the poverty line, vs 15.1% in the U.S.

Calculating GDP...there is no "average income per person" input.

Just looking at a some of the individual jobs they list for both countries:
Computer Programmers: US - $4141, Germany - $2505
Accountant: US - $3370, Germany - $2977
Engineer: US - $4710, Germany - $3397
Nurse: US - $3168, Germany - $2244
Professor US - $4638, Germany - $3846
Looks like US pay is higher - which is supported by the GDP per capita.

Well, GDP can actually be calculated 3 ways:
1) The Production Approach
2) The Income Approach
3) The Expenditure Approach
In economic theory, all three should generate the same GDP (and the Income Approach uses the sum of all individual incomes).
However, the income method also uses other factors, so GDP per capita is not exactly the same as individual income. A better statement would have been to say that it is a measure of standard of living.
Still, the figures do not support your claim that Germans generally get paid more.

And don't forget that the Germans pay darn near 49% of their income toward taxes and health insurance. I used to live there and was pretty appalled by how much of my income went toward those things.
And our cost of living is lower based on fuel costs, fees paid on automobiles (you pay by engine size there), etc.

I never said GDP per capita included individual income (although in the Income Approach to calculating GDP it does). I said that GPD per capita was a measure of individual income and I have also said that a better statement would have been that it is a measure of standard of living.

I thought team vette had a dearth of dealerships in EU from which to sell their wares.
Is that not the case?

Regardless, I have yet to see figures that support your statement that Germans are generally paid better. The sites you list actually say the opposite.
