Maybe it hides the hookup for the wrecker to pull it out of the ditch.
I know some 4X4's have them.

I attended the Reveal, Detroit Auto Show & Barrett Jackson. All the photos are of the same vehicle: a Torch Red Z51. Some of the photos make the color look MUCH RICHER than it really is.

The Cyber Grey car is beautiful, but I've not seen a car in Crystal Red. All the pics you've seen of a red C7 are the SAME CAR - which was driven onstage at the Reveal, displayed at the Detroit Auto Show pressed, then shipped to AZ for the Barrett Jackson auction. And that vehicle is Torch Red - no matter how different it looks in the various pics. Sorry to disappoint.
