One side effect of DI seems to be rapid appearance of black/carbon on the exhaust tips. I noticed this shortly after getting my CTS with 3.6 DI and it is also evident on a number of European and Asian DI vehicles. Some look almost as "sooty" as the exhaust of my (pre-DPF) diesel pickup.

If the C7 follows this behavior it will drive the chrome polishers crazy in short order.

Those four pipes on the C7 are VERY close together, and they are framed closely by the bottom of the rear bumper. They LOOK good, but that whole area is going to be extremely hard to clean and to keep the exhaust tips looking good. I can't see getting your hands in there at all to polish them.....thoughts?
Not to mention they won't be aligned right coming from the factory....

I noticed there is nothing in the brochure about how well it takes rock chips either.

Do you have a "friend" at the UAW? Why would they want to send the exhaust pipes out misaligned? I do not doubt your opinion but I would love to know your source.

Default Exhaust "controllers"

Go here and scroll down a bunch to see the chassis. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...press-kit.html

The exhaust system shown has four exhaust "controllers". Two before the mufflers (supposedly to control the 4 cylinder exhaust (my best guess is to increase back pressure for those hard working four cylinders). There are two exhaust "controllers" at the exhaust pipe ends (my best guess is that there are to adjust the bypass to control the noise level).

Pardon my use of the term "controllers" but I think this term pretty much describes what they do. I tried to past the referenced picture with no joy.

Interesting rebuttal...

"Yes Blueox, that quickly solved the problem...but the issue is they designed these in a way that doesn't allow one to sit on a special stool in a comfortable manner. Yet another failure on part of GM"
