This is nothing more than GM trying to stoke their customers and dealers into lining up to purchase the first year model. They know that if there is a hint of a Z06 or ZR1 for the next year or two it may delay sales of the new model. They want to make sure that demand exceeds supply. This is basic economics. Don't fall for it.

GM is not the only manufacturer that does this with a new model. They all do it. First they need to judge the market. If they don't receive the response they hope for they go back and rethink the design and marketing plan.
It is funny how so many call people names if they say on little negative about the C7, yet to many of them sit here all day and bad mouth GM.
Please keep in mind that the fiscal times have changed as well as a huge hike in CAFE standards. This could be a generation where there won't be a separate model with a "killer" engine for some time.
They need to offer a perfomance model, wont cut it for years with just the base car.
Every other company is raising the bar on performance, GM cannot do nothing.

Hmmm.....one of these is not like the other one....
