C7 gas mileage
Guy claiming to be a GM engineer, though not on the Corvette team, gives both EPA and real-world mileage.

That's probably like 20/32 in the old ratings, before someone mentions their C5/C6 had the same.

I know many don't care but literally burning money in the form of fuel is a personal pet peeve of mine. I spent $548 on fuel last month for my cars and another $150 in leaded race fuel for my MX bikes. I guess if you barely run any miles it won't make much difference. But I can't afford a Vette as a play car, it has to be my DD.
For my duty cycle, which involves at least 60 miles 5 days a week at 80mph, I think the 7 speed and other features of the C7 will offer me significant improvements in mpg over other comparable vehicles. And that's exciting to me.

Wow. I can't imagine getting up to high 30's in MPG on a cruise from LA to Vegas. A trip I make often That would be pretty crazy though I don't think I could keep it in 4 cyl mode the whole way let alone drive under 75 MPH to get close. Still even low 30's would be a blessing and 19 or so in the city isn't horrible either. Acutally it's pertty impressive. I can average about 26-27MPG in my Z06 on a 290 mile vegas run from my home in So. Cal which makes me happy. This while averaging 80MPH. Add a few to several mile per gallon more and you are looking at upwards of 100 miles additional range to a tank. It starts looking much better when you look at it from that perspective, let alone fuel cost savings. In comparison, my 2007 Yukon XL 2500 averages right around 13MPG on a vegas trip running at 75MPH.

Of course, a 100K mile Vette is going to have a lot of depreciation and there is no getting that back unless I just drive around in a cheap car for my commute, but what's the fun in that?

How about how many care about the Gas Mileage?
My C5 did get about 30MPH. I rarely check the GS/ZR. I know they are both under 20 and depend on my foot

I have been thinking that it will get 29mpg or higher.
This would be awesome feather in corvette's cap. Everyone thinks that you get terrible mileage if you drive a vette and are shocked when I tell them we normally get 30 on a long trip.
I think an advertising campaign with 30mpg would get some attention and maybe get more buyers on board.

Gas mileage definitely matters. I started thinking about getting another V8 when my bro-in-law commented on the mileage he gets with his Mustang GT Vert. I'm driving a 4 cylinder turbo, and I will get better highway mileage and the same city mileage. I'd do better, but my DD came with AWD, 4.10 gears and has 300 HP (50 up from stock). I started thinking Corvette when I saw the 2012 closeout prices. Now I'm pretty set on a C7. We don't really need two cars that can hold everyone in the family, do we? Make mine green with tan seats!

But I'm a realist when it comes to mpg. What I get every single tank is what the car actually gets. I don't care about bragging rights, I care about not sending more money to the Middle East oil barons.
My current car can easily get 32+mpg if I drive it cautiously and slow w/ no around town idling, but that actually only happens every few months. Every other tank I drive 80mph, get in a traffic jam daily, pitch it sideways a few times, and generally speed around quite a bit. That's my real world and it results in about 23mpg most tanks.

Just depends on what you will this Corvette as weekend car or daily driver.

For sure if I was going to put a grand total of 9K miles on it over a period of 6 years I would not care one bit about mpg. But that is not my reality.

I don't worry about gas mileage on my C6 Z06, but it's not a daily driver. It is nice though, when I pull in the garage after a 3427 mile cruise, to realize that I averaged 27.4 MPG(hand calculated) for that trip. Best gas mileage was between Springfield, MO(home) and Niagara Falls(~1,000 miles), where I ran 99.9% on the Interstate at 75 MPH and averaged 29.2 MPG.
The grin on my face would have been just as wide if I had only averaged 20 MPG for the 3427 miles. The car is for driving, not for pinching pennies. A Prius is for that.
