Cars have had electronic parking brakes going on 10 years now. Not a big deal.

That is the only thing I really dislike. I'd rather a real handle. Leave the electric parking brake for cars that don't have clutch pedals.

Same here. Looks like you could do the same thing here just using a finger to pull up on the little lever until going forward.

i agree. there is a lock out on the trunk release on the C5 (and afterwards) that prevents you from opening the trunk with the engine running and the parking brake not engaged, etc. and there is an interlock in the rear compartment that houses the folding convertible top that prevents you from opening the trunk when the lid is open (engine running or not), so i guaranty there will be a clock out that will prevent that P button from being active under a variety of circumstances all of which could be dangerous to safety.

not something that was overlooked i would bet on.

Some cars with an electronic parking brake will automatically engage when you come to a complete stop allowing you to take you foot off the brake pedal at a stop light. Releases when you step on the throttle.

Of course they have, but if you want to bash you don't let logic get in the way. I have never seen a forum where so many posters delight in bashing a car. There are lots of cars that I don't like, but I don't go their forums and bash them. If I don't like them, I don't buy them. I don't particularly care for the Porsche 991, but I don't go to Porsche forums to bash that car.

The C7 is a great looking sports car, and I expect that it will have great performance, and all of this for a reasonable price. I don't care if a basher writes a thousand posts pointing out all of the C7 shortcomings, real or imagined, it's not going to change my view.

Yea it will have an interlock system once the car is out of park or in gear it will unlock. How could it be used as an emergency brake?

My BMW has that feature. It is does not do it unless you activate the feature and it is a separate button than the actual e-brake button.

BTW, the mods here have all but pleaded that threads about the C7 be started in the C7 forum, not in this one. It seems like a reasonable request.
That's the way it works on our 2012 Volt. You can't accidently engage it. And unlike the parking brakes on ALL my previous Corvette's the new electronic parking brake HOLD's the car, there is no slop or creeping no matter the angel your parked on.

Went to youtube and looked at a Ford system. You have to press the brake pedal down then activate the switch. Hyundai’s system can be set to engage the brake when you leave the vehicle. I’m interested to see how this one works.

I've had 6 Corvettes, and none of them had a parking brake that would hold on an incline. I was always afraid to pull up too hard, because it might break. This new electronic one has to be better!

Since the parking break is electronic, I would bet it has a switch where it will not activate unless it is sent a voltage from the gears when it is in neutral... Not a hard thing to do
