The highest sales year for the c6 was 40 thousand cars. I will bet anyone that they will beat those sales with this new car, even with the bad economy. Just look at the video from automobile magazine, and see if you dont agree.

forr many, the economy has recovered, they just arent telling people yet. The floodgates will open if people want to buy this car. I dont know about first year, but it WILL sell. People who know I like vettes have been calling me for the last few days aksing me if I saw the new one yet, and telling me how great it looks. Age ranges from 25 to 75.

alanhang,
As long as this economy struggles, and it will struggle until the obamanation is gone from the White House, there will be slow Corvette sales. And there'll be a lot of other slow sales as well. Just the way it is.

That is a lot of cars in this economy. I think they will sell 2014 cars for a opulent of extra months..does that count? I remember the C5, everyone went nuts. How many of those did they sell the first year?

We don't know the price yet. To be honest, I real feel like it will be more but only by 5k. Even still, I think it will do very well. If it is the same price as base, I will outsell as you suggested.

It might if gm gets a lot more sales worldwide then the c6 IMO as they did say they are targeting that market along with a younger demo as well. I hope it does as it helps corvette and maybe Chevys presence a little bit worldwide. I know the corvette is very little compared to the rest of Chevys lineup but just having a presence of gm in other countries might get gm to sell other cars over in Europe.
As for the USA idk what the direct competitors are for corvette and like the person said its looks like its going to be 20% more then the base c6 price. Although some places said (motortrend 30min video) said 53k which I think would greatly help sales compared to 59k. I think even with all the improvements and interior build quality 53k is a good price and 59k for the z51 with meg ride. Idk how much the z51 with mag ride is priced compared to the current vette maybe I'm off..will check.

If the economy were good, I think the C7 would break records for GM.

I'll be surprised if the C7 ever exceeds 35k units per year. Whether or not you or I like it, the world has changed. And not for the better.

You're on! NFW will 40k Vettes be sold in Obama's economy. I hope I am wrong, because I absolutely love the car and plan on getting one, although not right away.
1. Economy is flat, with high unemployment and no real effort to stimulate growth.
2. Taxes and withholding are up, disposable income is down.
3. Another Debt ceiling is just around the corner. The liberals just cannot contain their spending, which sooner or later will lead to serious inflation.
4. Now they're coming for your guns, which some say may lead to civil unrest.
5. A general Obamalaise is permeating the nation.
Happy New Year! Rickman

The C6 produced approximately:
37,000 cars in 05
34,000 cars in 06
40,000 cars in 07
35,000 cars in 08
16,000 cars in 09
Based upon those numbers it is apparent that the state of the economy has a material affect upon sales. In 08 The LS3 came out so sales should have remained within the 30 K range. If you look at the C5 production numbers they were approximately 35K for the years 2001 to 2004.
I doubt that sales will be as robust as they were in 2005. GM has to make a decision with regard to price. Us loyal Corvette owners will most likely purchase another Corvette if it is priced right regardless of the rear styling.
In 04 when many of the C5 guys were complaining about no more pop up headlights many stated they would not go for a C6. Guess what ... after time members got used to the C6 and upgraded.
Hopefully, many are not that pissed at GM for the major design change attributed to us loyal Corvette owners being a bit long in the tooth time will tell. I am anxiously waiting for all those younger foreign car owners to join us Corvette guy/gals

The vast majority of people who are struggling in this economy can't afford a vette or aren't likely to buy one. The folks without jobs or with static incomes are overwhelmingly blue collar hourly workers. The people who buy Corvettes, especially those who pay cash, are not the ones struggling, as a general rule.
