Just spoke to my dealer only 12000
I just got off the phone with my dealer. He informed me that GM is only going to produce 12000 C7's. I told him I want to drive one before I order mine. I guess if the 12000 is correct I will not be getting my new C7 until 2015.

Clearly that is what they think they can sell. It makes sense based on the economy and present C6 sales. Given how everyone makes a huge deal out of the 'First Year Jinx', I can hardly blame them for keeping the numbers low.

If they start production on August 1st and terminate 2014 production on October 31st, that is only 64 days without including weekends. Production would be around 200 cars per day. Could be an accurate number

Actually, 12,000 sounds about right for 2014. The 2015 model year will probably run longer (i.e. 1984), as the convertible and updated transmission will be ready by then. GM obviously didn't want another 1983 to happen, so they released it as is. Just my $.02

Makes sense. Plus a great way to jack up the price on the first year, and maybe the even the second year. I may wait until the 3rd year then. No way would I pay MSRP for any car.

I wouldnt believe any dealer about details that specific. Especially right now.
The forum vendors are more reputable, and have more credibility. Especially considering that their words are "cast in stone" on this forum, are usually quoted and they can be called out out on their promises in the future. But the local guy down the street, who just make up anything to tell a potential customer over the phone. No way.
On my motorcycle forum.. a guy posted his dealer email saying the MSRP of the car was $49k.. and that he had already posted a deposit with that dealer. Does anybody really believe that?

Seems like maybe you have left out a year or so of 2014 production in your scenario???????????

Would they stop production that early? That would cause someone who wants to buy the 2014 corvette in say, April 2014 like myself, would have to buy an already produced model as opposed to customizing it with my own colour preference, options, etc.

Well I don't, but it could be within the realm of possibility. If it did happen that 12,000 would FLY off the lots! Hmmm...I might have to sell some stock...

I'm not sure about that OP. My dealer said that even if I wasn't first on their waiting list, they'd have plenty of allocations for an order to be placed at anytime. They're not a Corvette volume dealer either.

I could see if it was now mid 2014 or something, the Dealer might have gotten info about total numbers for the year, but at this stage, no way.
