Default Too Much Black Plastic

If it didn't have such a huge rear diffuser in plastic It might be more appealing. The first thing I would get is aftermarket carbon fiber replacement parts for the black plastic throughout the exterior of the vehicle. In my opinion it would be a huge improvement cosmetically. But would probably cost a mint.

Default Not plastic?

Based on what I've read, it's the same material as the other body panels but painted in the same black as the centennial corvettes. I haven't confirmed, but it was posted by another member who works at GM. Maybe folks who saw the car in person can confirm?

Can you point out to me on this picture this black plastic you are referring to?

You are correct, I have read, but don't remember my source, that it was painted in Carbon Flash metallic. I highly doubt it's plastic. It would make sense if it was the same material as the body panels.

I believe i read it in an overview of the new car, just don't recall where.

I am not a fan of the two tone rear end on it. I think that if it was more of the body color farther down it would look better. I am holding off on my opinion of the car until I see one in person.

Technically, if you order one in black, it's the entire car pretty much black plastic?

I'm sure there will be an after-market bonanza of assorted types of rear diffusers...everything from carbon fiber to body color to chrome to leopard print.

Well, it could still be plastic... just painted plastic

I don't know what material it is made out of but the pictures I've seen show these vents and black areas are indeed painted. It has a metallic flake and it appears to be similar to the Carbon Flash Black used in 2012. Unknown if its the same though.

Much better than the unpainted black plastics they used on the C6s.

Pic is here - http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2014-...#photo-5566079

You can see on some of the curved surfaces the metallic flake (most obvious on the left).

Wonder what the black would look like in a matte finish. The shinny does nothing for me in two tone.

A matte finish might take you into Pontiac Aztec territory.

That's funny...and unfortunately true.

As to all the ugly black...maybe for the mid-model refresh in a couple of years they'll offer a special "Fully-Painted Edition". Just please include those raccoon headlights. I hate contrasting-color headlights...especially in black. I sure hope they're optional.

Check out the corvettes that have the rear facia in body color.... I personally would keep all the vents black except the ones on top of the rear fenders...that is just one too many......with the red car....

Maybe I'd also have body color on the side cove as well..

I love the new c7. GM out did themselves!

I don't like all the black either. It might look really good on a black car though.
