Nice try buddy, my car was delivered to Evolution Perf. in PA and is still on their website, black Stage # 5 car. 659 RWHP Don't believe me, call Fred there, he knows me.....and it was a TVS blower car, not the stock blower plus other goodies.

Its unreal how much smoke is being blown around there.
If it had a 2.3L and a few other changes it would be an LS9. They really wouldn't want to see an LS9 powered ZL1 come up in their rear view.

1. If you find the mustang so repulsive, why did you buy one?
2. Why do you even care what "chicks" think?
3. Just for arguments sake, I know quite a few girls that LOVE mustangs but hated my JSB vette.

I wouldn't say the ZL1 and the GT500 are even close in this event.

Yea, but that can also come down to the driver. Fact is that one thing this test shows is that more sports oriented or track oriented cars such as the Lambo, Mc, and Nissan are much fasted than tanks like the Mustang and Camaro. It certainly demostrates what better aero dynamics and lower weight can provide over brute power. You can bet that once the higher end C7's arrive with their higher output engines, the pecking order will change a bit. You can certainly bet that the Zl1 and Shelby will be looking at the rear of the C7 at that stage.

What would be really interesting is where the base c7 would fall in this race. 580HP pigs compared to a more stealth like 450HP C7.. I'd bet it would be closer than many would expect.

At the end of the day, I still feel that most Corvette people like the Vette for a lot of reasons beyond just HP. Mustang and Camaro people are all about HP and could give a crap about how they handle on a race track with actual turns. Mustangs and Camaro's are more raw where as a Corvette is more refined just like their perspective buyers.

Given both Dodge and Chevy had no clue Ford would screw both them over with the bang-for-buck in the Shelby, but the bar was raised, and Chevy didn't really show us anything that was WOW with regards to power.

Funny how LOW 450bhp sounds now isn't it?

put make up on a pig and its still a pig....the vette has something that the mustang will never have....class....

I own both and use them for what they are made for.... cheap hot rod...stang.... date night...vette!

They were both basically the same exact lists! Except your list has the ZR1 over the ACR from his list.

Totally pointless discussion. Buy what you like. I like them both. I've had my doors blown off a number of times by sleeper Mustangs. There are some 1000 hp Supras out there that will do the same.

If all you care about is hp you can do 600hp for a lot less than $55k. You can get 600hp in a Fiesta.

The car that should be compared against the Mustang is the Camaro.

So you should be upset that $54k only gets you 580hp in your ZL1 Camaro.

Is that so? I wasn't going to waste my time but here I go:

The OP was referring the first list to show how close the 13' shelby was to a z06 on a track. A second slower if I believe.

In reality, the z06 is MUCH faster than that indicated by my list.... the real list not that abortion with incorrect data. (look at the hp claimed for the cars)

What I find comical is how he never responded to my questioning however he eluded that the shelby is now "seconds" slower.

So the lists ARE different... just take a look and enjoy that crow sandwich.

What should be upsetting is that FORD decided to not play fairly and upgrade the blower in 2013. The REAL question is why would they do that, build a car with 120hp more than its direct competitor and still consider it a competitor.

At 580hp, the ZL1 would've of been a great race against the 2012 shelby and I think one that ford didn't want to be seen by use. I think they knew exactly what would happen. The ZL1 would win the course, probably a tie at the dragstrip and a toss up on the build/quality.

That could of gone in either direction and they surely didn't want to loose the momentum the 5.0 gave them.

Apples to Oranges or not? I paid 62k and change for my loaded Cadillac CTS V with 562hp that beats up on Grand Sports. I was really hoping the new C7 would have much more power. Still love the looks and will buy when the Z comes out.

1. The Hp numbers are NOT final (I still don't see how people don't understand that.. it is said everywhere as well as the pricing and weight figures.) but I don't think they'll hit 500hp.

2. Lets not forget that the corvette has offered multiple iterations of the car with different hp figures. This is just the base car, with a new engine that is eluded to be perform great when FI is reintroduced.

Coming from a saleen with 700 hp you guys complaining need to look at the big picture. This new car is balanced. The car looks fantastic and will have plenty of power. Even at the minimum it's 25# torque less than the Z06. I had plans of getting the GS and slapping a blower on it. I'm glad I waited for the C7. That motor has plenty of power left on the table. I just can't wait for the convertible.
