Not to take away from the new BASE model C7 vette. but those are basically numbers of a 11 year old C5 Z06.

My C5 was smoking these cars in Germany. Even got props from some spirited British guy romping his Ferrari F430 to 180+ with me and another guy gave me the thumbs up when he backed off his 2006 BMW M6 as we peaked over 188 mph. I hit 191 in my Forged C5. Who cares....Their cars were 5x the cost of mine and gorgeous rides no doubt. Its not always about horsepower.

That M6 can haul ***! An, a 4-seater to boot!!!

Ferrari F430? My dream car. I smoked him. But, th etruth is, I can't afford one and it is an entirely different class than a Corvette.

So is a Mustang.
drive the 430 and then the 458 Italia, you will call the 430 a pos. Trust me on this. Would never buy the 430 even at a huge discount. Now the 458........wow !!!!

Looks like its more than just a second. Btw a second on a track is like eternity. Try it sometime.

Also... look who is right behind the shelby with less than 100hp+ and more than 200lbs. in weight. Hp isn't everything.

I bought a C6 new in Sep 2005. It is a piece of crap. Between 17k and 36K it was in the dealership full time. Same with 2006 Z06.Government motors can't build a go cart. Spend a few more bucks and buy a real sports car. Too bad a pony car will eat the new C7. The government motors people will argue all day long but they still have government motors go cart that want stay together.

Can you imagine the look on the guy in the other lane with a brand spanking new C7 getting dusted by the other guy in a 11 year old C5Z.

**** happens. Guys in brand new 2012 991 Carerra S's are getting blown away by guys in 12 year old 996 Turbos. '03 Cobras beating up on new 5.0's.

That being said, I doubt the C7 will be slower than the C5Z. THose are just estimates by Car and Driver.

Have you seen how "small" that V8 is under the hood of a Mustang? Hint: It would never fit under a Corvette's hood. How does the Mustang's minimum 500lbs of extra curb weight sound?

another right wing nut job--didn't know the US Government was involved in the design and building of the 2005 C6 back in 2004 or the 2006 Z06 in 2005. But yeah, if Bush and the morons of his administration was involved it would be screwed up, that is for sure.

Yes, the 5.0L Coyote is taller with overhead cams. And yes the Corvette is shorter with pushrods. But that's nothing new. Where did Chevy bring it's 'A' game for the Corvette motor? (And they could have. IMO, 475HP would have been easy if they want to do so with a 6.2L, but they didn't. For a car like the Corvette, the priorities behind 'why' they didn't SHOULD bother you.)

You really do seem to be obsessed about numbers and not results, it seems. Speculative numbers at that since actual output hasn't been disclosed yet.

I'll keep my C6 Z, maybe spend some money on my 70 GTO and end up with two way more killer cars. My 2 seat daily driver/track car and my 4 seat cruizer mega HP real American Muscle. I love all fast well built cars but will just never own a Furd or Chrustler product;~)

I bought my 07 Z used for $40k awhile ago and with a few mods I have NEVER seen the tail lights of ANY Shelby yet. 0-60 or freeway....

I remember when every secretary in our office had a mustang. Most people I know that have em are embarrassed to say they own one. This base vette will be fast but I can see the z's coming soon with 700 type numbers if you are really a piston head into numbers.

Oh wow, you have the inside info on the pricing already?!
Please tell me where I can find this actual 'GM/Chevrolet provided' information!

I'd be shocked if the new 2014 Corvette base MSRPs for ANYTHING over $54k.

Quick Reply: GT500 has 662bhp for 54K, C7 450bhp for 60K?
