Swing and a miss!

Why did I know the first post I would read would be this type of stupid crap. The exact same thing happened in 2004.
These were the statements I remember from back then...
"They ruined it"
"It's not a Corvette"
"No pop-up head lights? End of the line for the vette"
"Glad I bought my generation, it was the last true vette"
"Interior Sucks
"Exterior Sucks"
"Engine should have had more power"
.....BLAH BLAH BLAH
Every one has the right to their own opinion, but you think you might wait and actually see/drive one before you curse GM for ruining the brand?
As an owner of a C5 & C6, both great cars, I will be once again making a trip to the local Chevy store to put my order in. No test-drive needed.

The design of the rear end looks like utter garbage but the rest of the design makes up for it in addition to the advancements they have made in the car, especially having two types!
Overall, I like it.

You watch....the taillights on the Chevy SS will end up being round ones.
Someone mentioned it earlier though re: black. I would love to see the C7 in red or yellow with entire rear painted black a la C5R racecars.
Or simply and all black one.

I had sworn off black cars after my last one... But damn this one is tempting me to the dark side again.

The new car addresses many things I've seen people on this forum complain about and a few things nobody complained about.
Corvettes change. You'll never make everyone happy, but I have great expectations that the car will continue to rival many super cars.

love the black and cyber grey look.
GM went with a lot of Form follows function theme as I understand it. The air flow through the car is a major improvement and yes while those real tail lights would not have been my first choice, it actually works in moving air through car via the rear tail light ducts.
This thing is going to be a performance bargain for the price, while the looks are questionable, it will captivate a younger audience via its performance / dollar value. Lets just hope the aftermarket segment wont be hindered by too much of the technology chevy has introduced into this car.

Any chance you can photoshop / render this 3/4 pic of the red one with the rear in black would be interesting.
i'm starting to "feel it" with the all black one....nice job!

That shot gets me every time, Such a nice looking car. When i saw the leaks last year, I thought i was looking at the zr1... Not the base model. I was expecting a boring ol' base like the c5/c6.

Hey, I'll take that. Would not expect less from some on this forum. But...we are not here to discuss the looks of my car. I watched the whole unveiling and came here to give my opinion in the "swing and a miss" thread. Go bitch elsewhere and stop getting butt hurt if someone is critical of a brand new design. The kiddy section is here...http://forums.corvetteforum.com/testing-68/

That's exactly what I thought - the profile took me right back to being a kid and watching my neighbor's dad wax his 240Z. Not necessarily a bad thing because I think the 240Z took design cues from classic Ferraris. Overall I like the profile.
Front end seems pretty good, but I'm having an awful lot of trouble with the rear end. Might be my imagination, but I've seen two different rear three-quarter views in which the tail lights almost seem to take on a rounded appearance when viewed from an angle - maybe a built-in optical illusion/homage based on the contour, texture or shading of the glass/plastic? (Or maybe just wishful thinking)

My $.02.
Exterior:
Like the front view although there is no provision for a front plate.
Like the side view.
To many vents. The hood may look nicer if the vent was incorporated within a raised hood.
Not to crazy about the side markers.
Do not like the rear, to busy with 4 vents, and the rear diffuser is way to high.
The exhaust tip surround makes the rear look even larger.
This vette will look better with the darker colors, hiding the 9 vents.
Tires look skinny.
Interior:
Like the basic layout. The two tone interior has very nice lines.
Like the standard seats better than the sport seats.
OK with the center console grab handle.
Like the NAV screen layout.
Like the gauge cluster.
Ventilated seats will be a nice feature.
Dislike the carbon fiber dash surround. It looks flat with no definition. It needs something else like a chrome or brushed aluminum surround in a few places for definition.
The round temperature indicators below the NAV screen are horrible.
Performance:
This thing will kick butt. It will be faster, smoother, quieter, and handle better.
I want to see the convertible. Anyone know when that will be?

Burning Brakes
No Corvette with the words "Stingray" or "Sting Ray" should be absent of four round tail lights. EVER! I wish someone from GM would listen to their potential buyer base. I.E current owners and future buyers. Not impressed.
