Safety Car
I don't like the rear end, but I did not like the rear end of the C6 either and I have owned two of them. I think it will grow on me, but having just purchased a C6 427 Vert, I will wait for 3 years and decide then.
I think the technology in the car is amazing. I just really need to see one in person before making a final decision. Regardless, it is a Corvette and will get the wave from me every time I see one.

Over time, I quess with all the pre-production hype build-up, then hordes of advertising, followed by substantial volumes of what was actually falsely-perceived-positive word-of mouth reduncancies...anybody can grow into liking anything...similar conditions in the diamond market have been artificially inflating their value ever since they were first mined. However, did anyone ever think that if a launch of a Boeing Dreamliner could turn into a disaster...why couldn't the same thing happen with the C7?...just sayin'

(Anticipated) Performance for a "base" model ++
The styling is provocative, edgy and pushing the envelope. I like the car from some angles, but other views lead me to agree with some who have said the car appears to be a mish/mash of styles that don't entirely flow together. Also not crazy about the interior.
I think it's a bold move from Chevy, and I applaud them for having the stones to approve something that is a more dramatic generation change than C4 to C5 or C5 to C6.
It may very well grow on me, so that's what I voted.

That's Why Time Will Be The Real Judge
If you're referring to my car and not the C6 model line in general...I can't express an accurate opinion on that...like the C7...not enough time or miles on my C6 yet...was just trying to point out that despite Boeing being a leader in their industry & having global success with most of their previous models of aircraft...minor or major problems can sometimes surface...only when the consumers start piling on the hours after the launch.
IMO, too many folks are trying to turn this into a C6 vs C7 war. For the record, I'm not one who's bitter on the C7's because I have a C6...I may even buy a C7 whenever I feel like too!

Having gone to take a look today, I think they laid a good foundation. To me, there is more under the body. The frame has some nice components to it. The engine and manual trans speak for themselves.
From a design standpoint, it kinda looks like they gave it to a committee made up from the Camaro and Cadillac team. Front looks very good, not so sure on the fanny.
Did not see the interior so I'll leave that for another day.
If it were me, I'd wait a couple cycles because the foundation is there, it needs a little time to work over the rough spots.
Think 05 C6 versus 08 C6. This one is evolutionary, not revolutionary.....

My take
When the first C5 came out, it took a long time for me to warm up to it. Eventually, I bought one.
When the first C6 came out, it took me a while, but not quite as long to like it. Eventually, I bought one.
Now, with the C7, I like it already. Yes, there's one in my future. Probably a 2015.

Melting Slicks
I think GM will leave that up to the aftermarket suppliers like Lingenfelter, Callaway and Hennessy. To change it now would admit they didn't do enough homework on design heritage.
