Did GM use a Canary Trap on the C7 info?
In one of his books, Tom Clancy has his hero at the CIA give different people different versions of information so they can discover where things are being leaked. Clancy called it the Canary Trap.
I wonder if there were different versions of the C7 background - 5.5 liter, twin turbos, 2900 lbs, Stingray... that sounded really plausible, but were leaked to see what editors or sites couldn't keep their mouths shut.

Would it matter?
Another "Top Secret" release in what 8-10 years? All the people they'd be pissed off at would be somewhere else or retired by then. R&T leaks so you won't let them write gushing articles about the stuff your selling anymore? They might be out of print by the time you need them again... It's the PR business, stuff happens.
And besides, any press is good press. If we didn't have the constant trickle of "leaked" info and tidbits, I doubt half of us would even remember that the reveal is tonight.
A Canary Trap is way too much work and IMHO you're best served letting the enthusiast following make your rumors for you. Better off making sure the reveal goes off smoothly. I'll bet a good portion of us are watching just to see if the Jalopnik renderings are accurate or not.
