Retro look for new C7 would be nice
#21
The Mustang took on the 1967/68 look, the Camaro took on the late 60s look, the Dodge Challenger took on the 1970 or so look. All the new pony type cars are retro in design. I would just love it if the Corvette did the same thing and had the C7 look like a midyear Corvette (63-67) with today's technology. I know this cannot happen as the Corvette design is evolutionary, not radical but I would flip if the C7 looked like the 67 Vette.
Just for fun----what would you rather have in a C7, the usual evolutionary changes or a 1963-1967 body type?

Their slogan should be.. Where you can disgrace two beautiful Covette designs with one car

I would normally say no retro, but after seeing pics of this example I think it would look pretty sweet...but I know this is not anything close to how it will actually look. Would be cool if they had two versions - the retro and modern
This sure beats the jalopnik rendering IMO

Yuk!! That looks like a glorified C6 with an old school front end on it..
NO to retro! The Camaro and Mustang were never designed to be track cars unless track to you means going in a straight line as fast as you can.
Aero dynamics were never at the core of the Camaro or Mustang design where as the recent generations of Corvettes were designed around aero dynamics and road course type of handling.
Going retro would do nothing for winning races and being a top track performer like the C6. The C7 should improve on everything the C6 delivered from a performance standpoint and not sacrafice any of that to appease a small few who are stuck in the 60's or 70's. Sure that old girlfriend might seem better now that she is gone but there is a reason why you kicked her to the curb!
I expect nothing but good things from the C7. It will look better inside and out (in my opinion) compared to the C6 and it will outperform its comparable older brother (C6 VS C7, C6Z VS C7Z etc) in every aspect from quality, performance, handling, fuel economy and styling. The idea is to keep moving forward and not take a step back by bringing back some old or classic elements.
The Corvette has always been an American leader in performance and styling while keeping at the forefront of automotive technology, reliability and all the while beating most of the competition on the track. Especially domestic competition. Don't expect for one minute that the new C7 won't continue that tradition. The new C7 will improve upon everything that the C6 delivered. The C7 will impress most but GM can't please everybody!

That sure looks better than what gm came up with. But seems most
feel moving forward is looking like Nissan and Toyota.

Now the above quote is funny. Tech not really, reliability not if look back at years of customer surveys. Many new innovations came out on cadillacs than filtered down. Corvettes
were just plastics with big motors. Lesser models had more features than could order on a vette

FWIW, I can't stand the Nissan, Toyota or even the Lexus for that matter and I don't see any resemblance between those Japanese cars and the new C7 renderings which I happen to like. To say that the C7 looks like any one of those cars is a reach! I assume you also think the Ferrari looks like the above mentioned cars because the C7 certainly does have some similarities to Ferrari if you ask me..

No retro,.. keep on with the evolutionary changes.
They have said this new C7 car is not targeted at the older Vette buyers. They want to target the younger crowd. They need new blood for the car to survive. Many people may not like the new design, but at least the car did not go the way of Pontiac and Saturn.

Retro is for those who cant be creative enough to move forward. You put steel or chrome wraparound bumpers on a corvette and I'll be buyin vipers or gtr's...end of story.

Exactly, the C3 was a beautiful design, that's why I would like a modern retro-version of it but not of the C2. This is all hypothetical because I doubt it will ever happen, but I'm just saying, it woudl be cool if Chevy produced something like the retro renders in the above pics. Doesn't have to replace the Corvette, they can make the modern Corvette as planned and have a whole new model called the Chevrolet Stingray, with the same engine.

Oh and there is some styling genius on that GTR...
