I think the interior will be eons ahead of the C6 interior and performance will be on par with a Z06 up to 100mph.

Just like the C5 looks ancient compared to a C6 the C6 will soon be a ancient looking car too imo.

I don't see the car being after market friendly at all, but stock for stock should be awesome!!

It will look almost exactly like the 2011 Jalopnik render...

EXCEPT...
  • Some of the aero adds will be missing (that was the "ZR1" render, if you remember)
  • The sharp edges will be artfully smoothed, somewhat along the lines of the final MT render. That will make a huge difference and make the car appear more Ferrari-inspired than GTR-inspired
  • The rear end will be the source of controversy. But, the smoothing and other details will make it fit with the rest of the car. Eventually, it will be viewed as the most uniquely Corvette part of the design and folks will not be happy with the first C8 renders

Performance will be nicely evolved but not "stunning:"
  • 460 HP and 450 torque will be plenty with the 2995 lb. weight (but check the "fine print" on how the weight is calculated)
  • 30 MPG hwy and 20 MPG city -- 23 combined
  • Slightly narrower tries enhance MPG but don't hurt handling given lighter vehicle. Base car will achieve C6 GS handling and braking stats; accelleration thru 80 MPH will be very close to C6 Z06 but just short

I will love this thing; and will buy a 2014 in 2021 when I can afford it and the the prior owner has sorted out all the inevitable bugs. 25% of Forum members will not. It will sell better than the last 3 years of the C6 -- but it is unlikely the economy will be strong enough for this to be the huge success GM and the Vette team will be hoping for.

Just a comparison, nothing scientific and no statements suggesting anything otherwise.
Thing is, you don't know what the wheelbase will be on the C7. And I doubt you know the width of the guys head. Since you show the width of the guys head, I'm assuming you either know him and he gave you his head measurement or you're guessing. Lets say his head is actually 7.5" in stead of the 7.2" you show that would be a 4.2% error and that would mean the height would be 49.1" instead of the 47.1" you show. That same error would mean the wheelbase of the C7 would be 110.1", not 107.1" that you show.

Why even make a comparison if you admit the results are meaningless.

According to the National Corvette Museum
http://www.corvettemuseum.org/librar...icle/1956b.htm

my 1956 Vette has a curb weight of 2875 pounds. I seriously doubt the C7 will come in under that.

PS- 1953 Vette has a curb weight of 2850 pounds.

My prediction is this:

1) The C7 will retain the Corvette body that we all love. Its going to be low to the ground, wide powerful stance, massive wide tires, and NO Camaro tail lights. They will be round. The front eyes will take the shape of the new Ferrari's (similiar to the 458 Italia).

2) The C7 exhaust will be an upgrade from the NPP exhaust, but it still will be lacking a bit. There will still be a lot of us turning to Corsa, Borla, etc. for more sound.

3) The C7 interior will be a significant upgrade then before, and will remain a 2 seater.

4) The C7 will remain at an affordable price. Base starting around low $50Ks.

That's my prediction. Hope I am right.

No, it'll still be premature, until you've seen one in person.
...until you've sat in one.
...until you've driven one.
...until you've driven your own one.
...until you've picked up girls in one.
...until you've posted your 1/4-mile time.
...until you've done a track day on a respected road course.
...until you've road-tripped one across the country.
...until you've owned one for a month, then a year.
...until you've owned your second one...
...until the cows come home...

As for the C7, I am going with GT-R size interior cockpit with more headroom (taller roof/taller windshield). GM has something up their sleeve with this car. There will be shock and awe value, and it won't only be due to the new exterior styling. They extended that rear hatch that far back for a reason.

I cannot wait for the Sunday. I am waking up in the wee hours of the morning here in Bahrain to watch the live video stream.
I tried to tell him it would be radically different and he didn't buy it either.

Definition of radically or radical = Departing markedly from the usual or customary; extreme.

Favoring or effecting fundamental or revolutionary changes in current practices, conditions.

My plan is just that driving my C7 cross country. My wife is going to Paris to visit Art museums , I am headed west to visit old friends and my brother in California. The Summer of 2014 will be Corvette Summer II for me ....

OK -- will you be the first poster who is sure enough about this round light nonsense to put up a case of beer as a bet? I'll ship you Yuengling, you can even ship me Genny Cream Ale! (that's how confident I am.)

NOBODY has backed up their round light forecasts with even a case of beer -- a stinkin' case of beer! That is either ridiculous risk-aversion or a lack of confidence.

C'mon, man, what is it?

My prediction is that we will be getting the C-8.

The U.S. Govt bailed out GM during the C6 production run and where did that money come from? The taxpayers.
I think GM wanted to pay us taxpayers back with a Vette that we weren't supposed to get..... just yet.
