This should make the Government's Distracted Driving Czar go apoplectic.

GM's announcement says it's for new infotainment systems "debuting in select 2014 model year vehicles." I know a lot of Corvette buyers don't give a hoot, but honestly, Corvette needs to be one of those vehicles.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't.

I'm just wondering how deeply into the workings of the car they might be willing to go. One can imagine some pretty funky stuff.

OMG, where are we going to be in 10-20 years with all this stuff?!

I remain skeptical that GM has learned their lesson about technology in the Corvette.

The 2005 Corvette offered analog OnStar and a DVD navigation system with EGA resolution.

The leaked images of the C7 instrument panel show the right third occupied by physical gauges for fuel and coolant temperature. Did those need to be physical? Either they were too cheap to put another digital display there or too afraid to go digital. It's a bad sign.

This is one of those "surely GM isn't that stupid... or is it?" moments. I really want to give GM the benefit of the doubt, but I just can't.

Yeah, I can appreciate that they might be a bit paranoid. The past is kind of confining for them at times, IMO.

I don't know what EGA resolution is, but upon purchasing a Nav-equipped C6, I learned Etch A Sketches come in color, too.

I don't know what you're talking about. The Corvette community embraces change. Just look at the taillights.

Well maybe this is a new population control. Let your new toy do you in. Young people
today can not walk and chew gum at the same time. Much less drive defensibly while texting.
surfing the net on the nav screen, relying on adaptive cruise, lane assist, lord knows what
else.

Too bad we have to be on the road with them

Hey at least now they will be doing all that at Corvette speeds!
I would hope that most of these apps would just work in the background but who knows?

They want instant gratification, and they want it NOW!

don't forget front and rear parking assist, for those who never learned how to parallel park......

Why would anyone want more useless junk like this?

Even when I'm not in the C6, I NEVER get so bored with driving that I start dreaming about apps & wishing for more infotainment.....

maybe they are remembering the " learned lesson " from the C4 series 1 dash.

The C4 Dash was digital, but NOT customizable...

GM should really update the corvette and not let us wait 8 years to get a refresh about something in it.
