C7 orders...Mike Furman 301 212 4420 Criswell Chevrolet
Please touch base if you have an interest in placing an order for a C7 2014 Corvette. 11 more days until the full reveal at the Detroit Auto Show. I have been thru 4 Generation changes since I started selling Corvette's in 1978...this will be exciting! I am not marking up from MSRP.

I can tell you this; my local dealer (who I don't care to do business with) said they'd write a deal on a 2014 Corvette... within $350 of the employee pricing. Why ??? They are wanting to increase their allocations.
For $350; heck I'd pay the extra to have a first year C7 in the driveway.
C7 purchasers; look around for dealers willing to deal on the 2014 Corvette. It is different than Camaros and other GM cars. Corvettes work on allocations; and there's some small dealers willing to deal - in order to increase their Corvette allotment.

2020 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
So who cares about that? Just wait until Sept 2013 and they will be discounting them like crazy. The first year is going to have all sorts of problems anyway; just like the '68's, 84's, 97's and 05's. I would not touch a C7 for three years based on past performance.

All cars have problems, not just the first year. I get so sick of people using that logic. If everyone did that there wouldn't be a second year due to no sales of the first year models.

Not really, I just won't buy the first few years of a production model, my preference, many people will. Experience bears this out, that it takes a few years to get the "bugs" out, and there will be problems.

If they only sold a limited # of 2013s they may not receieve any 2014 allocation.

I was pretty envious of the 2006 Z06 though.
I will say one thing: being the first guy in town with a C6 was pretty cool. If I get a C7, it will be a lease.

I bought the 2005 and was plagued with issues like the steering lock, dead battery/reverse gear selection, notchy gear selection, and the differential being a bad design. 2006 was a pretty straight car though. I'd go second year but definitely not the first.

I was fortunate to drive/race the prototype C6's Summer of 2004 at Virginia International Raceway and the C6 Z06 Prototypes Summer of 2005 at Bob Bondurant in AZ...I bought the first available 2005 Vette in the Wash DC area and the first available 2006 C6 Z06 with no regrets...and yes the cool factor of many many people following and staring was great! And I also agree to the statement "you only live once and sometimes half of that."

NO. Although Buds is in Ohio... they are not my local dealer. I would rather buy a C7 through Buds.
Yvonne and I were at our local Chevrolet dealer; she was looking at new crossovers. The salesman that's been our families sales person there asked if I was going to buy the "new Corvette" or not. I told him what Mike@Criswell already stated... that GMO/GMS generally isn't allowed for first year model runs (or first year redesigns). That's when he said they want to get more Corvette allocations and could get "very close" to the employee price for the 2014 model. I asked how close; he said within $350.
I will have to consider that if I'm so hot on the C7 that I won't want to wait for the 2015 model year to get one.

Yep; but they can increase their 2015 model year allocation by selling more 2014 models. The allocation restriction is lifted - about mid way production year run - and those dealers wanting to - can irder more than their initial allotment. My local dealer wants to increase their 2015 allotment - by selling more 2014 Corvettes.
I am not in the business, and I hope Mike@Criswell will correct me if wrong. There are no GM "stock" orders of Corvettes. All units ordered are already considered "sold" to a specific dealer. In other words... GM does not -all on their own- make Corvettes for their general inventory; that sit in a general distribution lot - hoping a dealer asks for them. Every Corvette made already has a dealer destination dealt to it; via the very order placed by the dealer. The dealer may consider it their stock unit though. But GM does not make "extra" Corvettes that haven't been already dealer ordered.
