The base coupe does weigh 3208 pounds, but GM could have produced a base C6 coupe that weighed 3025-3030 lbs using parts they currently have in the system. With the C7, I see no reason a 3000 pound base car can not be built.

GM has already said the C7 will be significantly lighter, I'm expecting at least 100lbs less.

I think Tag said it either in the video or the print interview.

Adding "lightness" to a car also beefs up the cost. There will be trade-offs, I think, to keep the MSRP under control. A Z06 type super-light car, may be available at a later date, assuming sales of the base model support it. It will cost significantly more, of course.

Working backwards from HP. I believe the base Coupe will have 475HP, and they will shoot for 6.5 lbs/HP, so
6.5 lbs/HP x 475HP = 3,088 lbs.

Looking from a different perspective they are shooting for $18/pound with a base 1LT coupe going for $55,000. Therefore 3055.6 pounds is my guess,

I wonder if we can get our local dealers to offer a special of the week with a reduced price per pound?

If my grocery store can do it...

I think the 1LT will be 40lbs lighter and no more. Of course I wish it were more but I am skeptical.

If they are planning on a Z06 model I think some of the weight savings will be held specifically for that. If they do that I am thinking 3150 for the base and later the Z06 will be released just under 3100.

I don't mind paying more, as long as i get value for the extra money.
