Since the discussion is changing to build quality...
I know some of you are not "fans" of the Volt, but it is recognized as the highest quality vehicle GM has ever built. Due to its low volume numbers, I wouldn't not be surprised to see that GM transferred some or all of the best practices learned from the Volt to the C7. Pure speculation would be that the mules and test vehicles may have been assembled in Detroit for that reason. That's why there's a banner outside that "abandoned" warehouse.
Just sayin...

For years Bowling Green has been recognized as GM's highest quality production facility. If anything, lessons and techniques learned there went into the Volt.

It is a shame the Volt could of been quite a car if only the design department was consulted. It is just a blain 4 door, nothing exciting, I remember the initial prototype, to bad that design concept wasn't carried forward.

I have to disagree. I like the design of the Volt. If anything, it looks 100x better than the Prius, Leaf or any other car in its class.
^ Sorry about going off-topic

This stuff has nothing to do with the C7,AND THIS IS C7 SECTION,but what really kills me is those asinine commercials they did...'oh,I love my Volt..It's been so long I forgot how to work the gas pump.." blah blah...dumb beotch, stfu! What it should say is "Do you know you spent 40 frikkin grand you *** and it will take you years and years to recoup the cost of admission not to mention your electric bill while charging at your house you frikkin moron??? Two vettes, and I can't say much in the way of GM build quality.
The C6 was considerably worse than the C5.
The dealership experience from 5 to 6 went down significantly.
So the C7, well my expectations are only up because where I sit today it's rock bottom.
The cars have so much pure potential, the styling attractive/compelling, the price per features excellent, but the fitness for use quality standard
and the dealership requirement to ask three times before we can actually fix it [ sung to the rythmn from Tony Orlando & Dawn] is what needs to be addressed.

Gotta agree that the original design consideration for the volt was spot on. So what if the redesign is more areodynamic if no one is buying....in my opinion GM comes up with stunning concept cars but by the time they get to the factory everything that gave them "personality" has been sucked out of it.

I own a Volt and the build quality is pretty darn good for a GM vehicle.
Off Topic:
not08crmanymore,
Maybe you're bitter that you're partially paying for everyone elses Volt? LOL
For all those Volt haters saying it's a overpriced car are correct on some aspects. Yeah it's a $46K Electric Chevy Cruze but after the tax credits and incredible lease deals I got my Volt for $370 / month on a 36 month lease with Nothing down except first payment. Taxes rolled in and all.
I just put 4400 miles on 8 gallons/ tank, saves me about $120 / month on fuel but cost me about $25 / month on electricity. I get HOV access and it's actually fun to drive!
So basically for $265 / month it's a blast and I'd do it again!

I am a fan of the Volt and give Bob Lutz and GM credit for taking such an innovative approach. There's a saying in the product launch business,
"You can tell who the pioneers are. They're the ones with the arrows in their backs." Having said that, the thread was really started to suggest what lessons GM may have learned and applied to Corvette from the launch of the Volt. The battery packs and electronics in the Volt required new thinking on building a vehicle. From having spoken to Volt owners,
it appears that tolerances and fit are at a higher level than previous new GM cars. I'm thinking the Corvette community may benefit from those lessons learned. As an original owner of an 84 Xfire, believe me I know why people shy away from a first year GM car. Just when they get it right, GM pulls the plug on the car. The Fiero comes to mind.
So let's hope and let's see.
