If I can resist temptation, because I really like this new car, I will wait 4 or 5 years. 1. I want to see what Z06/ZR1 variations they come out with. 2. I want to buy a car that's a year or two old, with 4,000-5,000 miles on it and pay about 70% of off-the-showroom-floor price. 3. There are always improvements that hit around the 3rd year, that you wish you'd waited for. I bought an 05, then ended up buying an 08, becasue I just had to have some of those improvements, then ended up buying a 2008 Z06, where I am now and loving this car. If I can force myself to make my decisions based on logic and not emotion, I'll wait 4 or 5 years, keep my C6-Z06, then buy a used C7, but I've been known to say "you only live once, to hell with logic" and run out and buy one. We'll see.

Its the same corvette as 2012 Z06 other than the tires , perfection at its best.

If/when the final numbers don't sell me, I'll wait for the test drive.
If the test drive doesn't sell me, I'll want for the performance model.
I'm hopeful that they can sell me early, but there's nothing wrong with my 2010 GS. Whatever replaces my current ride needs to be something special. I have high hopes, but I need it under my hands to really know.

Will wait for the C8 to come out unless they do a resigned of the rear end. Not going to spend that kind of money on something that I have to grow to like....

I ordered a 97 as soon as I could. Took delivery in May 97. Kept the car for 6 years. Great car and probably the best C5 from a visual build quality standpoint. In the later years they didn't bother wiping the sealing gook off the bottom of the car the 97 was absolutely clean with no gook showing where the floor panels interfaced with the steel reinforcements. In later years they dropped they went with a flat panel behind the seats Vs the stamped panel that had reinforcement shapes bent into it. The flat panel lent itself to an oil can sound if the owner leaned on the panel while getting something from the rear of the car. What was missing was all the stuff that came out with the 98, 99 and Y2K that I would have liked to have had on my 97.

Won't buy the current c7 first year. Love my current '06 and '07 cars in the garage. Thinking back all 1st year new models have had new bugs/recalls (most likely this year too since I think the only reused parts are a couple or screws or something), and they are not the favored year of those generations (remember '63, '68, '84, '97). The second model year always has upgrades and improvements once they shake (or rather we shake) the bugs out. Also this body style does not do much for me, maybe the convertible will when that comes out - Spring 2014 or as a 2015 model, who knows what's in their build plan.

That's a pretty good idea I would say. Think about the C6. It came out in 2005 & after the third year of production was upgraded w/the LS3 engine and a revised transmission. I would also say '3 is a magic number'

I'll wait for the second year. I was # 1247 when the 2005 C 6 came out in 2004 and never had any real problems with it compared to what i saw/have seen on the forum. I traded for an 2006 in summer of 2005 and again no problems compared to others. I guess the good lord takes care of we patient ones- I've wanted a Corvette since 1963.

C7
I own a 2005 C6 Z51 & a 2010 C6 Grand Sport both convertables. In the past I have owned 4 others. I went to the Detroit Auto Show from California to see the new C7 in person. Wow the photo's don't do it justice. I have been on my dealer's list for at least 2 1/2 years now to get his first convertable C7.
I could not get any advance info from the people at the display other than the C7 Convertible will be on display at the Geneva Auto Show March 7th.
I can't wait. I always purchase the no deductable GM extended warranty, so any proplems from a 1st years model, are taken care of by the dealer.
No problem,
Dave

I do, and don't recall it being any more troublesome than the later years. Same goes with the C6. Sure there were a few minor issues, but nothing major and everything would have been covered under the warranty anyhow, so who cares? I'd certainly rather be the first one on my block with the latest model as opposed to waiting a year or two and denying myself those years of fun.

I'm with you on this one. We all need to keep in mind how many years it has been since the C6 was introduced, and I bet GM has improved in the area of pre production testing drastically since then, so there should be very few teething problems with the C7.

Kind of interesting that many of the most ardent C7 fan boys WON'T be buying one anytime soon (and probably couldn't buy new in any case). Yet, they use every opportunity to limit open discussion of the new car. All talk?

Besides, I would have a hard time justifying trading in my 2012 with only about 10,000 on the clock. As hard as it is going to be, I figure on waiting until at least the 2015 model. Might even snag a discount....
