What Gen V engine comes after the LT1?
It seems that a supercharged LT4 comes next. Then what? After reading this
http://www.enginelabs.com/engine-tec...n-small-block/
along with all of the patents, maybe there will be a mid-cycle engine change like the LS2-LS3 switch in MY2008. The only things that I can imagine happening before Gen VI OHV small-block arrives, if that ever happens, are
1) Supercharger
2) Cam-in-cam camshaft
3) 3V heads
4) Titanium (Rods, valves, push rods)
5) Low-pressure, central injection DI in the 3V heads
6) Higher compression ratio
Right now, the LT1 is sitting around 75hp/liter. That is NOT very aggressive. I think there is a lot of room to increase the output of the engine. Another question is whether the new eight-speed automatics can handle 7000+RPM operation.
Two comments on the LT1. I think the piston surface topology is relatively smooth to avoid crevice gases. The other thing is that I think those big cast iron manifolds are there as heat sinks to control emissions. I wonder if it'll run cooler than the LS3?

The LT4 most likely.
Could be supercharged, could be twin turbocharged but it looks like something even more potent is coming either way.
And yes, hopefully there are some power increases in store in the future for the new LT1 as well.
