Ok its time to go to the polls lt-1 motor updated
well from what we read there seems to be mixed feelings on the LT-1 and its features. so we will keep this simple and try to get some results.
i screwed up the last one so here is the new one.

I'm sure final output #'s wil be higher. Even if the stay at 450 & 450. That TQ cure is quite meaty and will no doubt move a 3000lb car. For those that want more HP, wait a year then put a cam in this thing. That profile is tiny for a 6.2L motor.

I love how people are bashing and condemming this motor as "not enough" or whatever. You haven't seen/driven/experienced one yet, and yet somehow by pure miracle you know it is a POS. Amazing.

This poll is screwed up as well. Because it forgot to have an option for, we just don't know yet.
Once we have final engine specs we'll be in a better position to make that call.

There's no option for "it's great." And there's no option for "too soon to tell." So this poll will not tell you anything except how the subset of people who've made up their mind and aren't thrilled feel. And really who cares what they think?

I believe that upon introduction on 1-13-13, the hp number released will be greater than 450.
This is textbook create lower expectations so that the public will be pleasantly surprised when the true figure is announced.
As with any business involving customers, when you exceed expectations, you look like a hero....
The base vette will have more than 450hp. Have no fear...

I don't really think we know all there is to know just yet.If they make it 475hp instead of 450 and 500 torque instead of what they're saying now, that will be cool.

CAFE, I know. I get it. In my perfect world however, AFM would be an option. I appreciate the concept and comprehend the necessity, but as it appeals to my personal desires, I'd rather the car be easier to modify. I'd prefer not to have to defeat it in order to coax the kind of performance and attitude from the car that I inevitably will.
Unfortunately, for me that will just be another hurdle, and a costlier one. The direct injection however will be a fun new challenge when it comes time to supplement fuel delivery. I'm curious to see what sort of limits it has when pushed.

Guys, c'mon. It's well above most of the competition, looks to have an improved torque curve, and better mileage to boot. We could be having to make due with the rumored 5.5. In these times we live in (heavy-handed government mandates) I'd say we dodged a bullet for a few more years.

I dont think anyone is condeming anything. Just posting their opinions. I must admit I too was a little disapointed with at least the H.P numbers, everything else is very Impressive so far. I think everyone was expecting more because this is America's ICONIC sports car, and is being compared to what some consider " lesser cars ". I think with all the HYPE about the C7 and how it was built up, people were actually expecting at least 480 hp or even 500 right out of the gate. Time will tell when all is said and done, and in the end we may all be impressed, but right now maybe GM would have been better off as to not even release Preliminary numbers at all and just wait for the end result. Sounds like a mind game, but I fail to see the strategy behind it. My .02 cents.

I think this is the main reason everybody is crying. People heard the 450hp number and decided they didn't like it. Same with the 26mpg. They didn't listen to, or read, the "at least" that was in front of it. I fully expect the c7 to have higher numbers in those departments. I wouldn't be surprised to see those numbers out of the new half ton silverados.
I, for one, have been waiting for this engine for a while, and am very excited for it. There are a lot of good parts in it, and good technology. It is the main reason I do not currently have a vette. You think the LS motors were easy to make big numbers with some modifications? Just wait and see what happens with these, Its going to get fun. Not just with the aftermarket either, I'm sure GM will not disappoint with these engines in their performance variants of the new corvette, camaro, and hopefully ats-v.

The thing that really suprised me about the Gen V is that they didn't go DOHC. Not saying I was hoping for that, just thought they would have done away with pushrods.
But, disappointed? No, not at all. Sure, some were hoping for bigger HP numbers, but think a minute. The torque numbers are pretty impressive, and that is where the real fun is anyway. 450/450 in a car that will be lighter and tighter, you're looking at actual track performance of a Z06 in the base model. Depending on the gearing offered in the C7 it may be alot better.
What I find intriguing is the attention paid to the detail of the direct injection and chamber design. I think this will prove give a huge advantage in throttle response, and acceleration. The important, and unknown factor, is how it will work in the complete package.
Of course we all know what is really important...how well the paint finish will hold a coat of Zaino and that Eckler's will have all of those shiny chrome trim pieces ready for the engine bay at release date. Like 50% of these things are going to 80+ mph anyway

GM probably stuck with the small block V8 pushrod design because it's a smaller envelope and lighter weight. Plus, GM can brag that's it's the first pushrod engine to use variable valve timing.
