the new mustang is supposed to get a Indpendent rear end too which takes it out of muscle car territory and puts it into sports car territory
The Camaro has an Independent rear and it's still a muscle car..

I've never liked mustangs but I really like this concept...probably because it looks nothing like a Mustang. Never EVER thought I would ever consider a Mustang over a Corvette but if the C7 ZO6 will cost $90k-$100k, and come with that Robotic looking rear end we see in the CAD drawing, I will consider the GT500/Boss if it looks like the concept here

Why would a Corvette lover consider a Mustang ? 2 extra seats or lower price point.

So how can anyone think that is what the new mustang will look like? And then compare it to the C7? Who here has any solid information on performance or looks of either?

I think some people like to day dream.............. Personally I don't care what a mustang looks like. I would never own one. Matter of fact the only Fords I would ever own would be a Ford GT or Ford Raptor...and then I would not want anyone to see me driving them. I just have a natural hate for all things Ford. LOL

Because they are a 'car' lover. I love my Corvette, I've always loved Corvettes, but I loved my previous Mustangs as well. CHEAP and EASY to modify into a beast.

John, my reasoning is I am a car lover in General. I have an appreciation for more than one or two brands. I hold the corvette nearest to my heart because that is what I grew up around.

To me, if a car looks good, it looks good. The badge does not matter to me. If the Mustang looks like this, and that remains to be seen, and the higher performance model comes with the current 650hp (or better) and they add a great suspension, I would absolutely consider it if I do not like the look of the C7

2015 Corvette ZO6
585hp
IRS
3,000LBS
$90,000

2015 Mustang GT500/Boss
650HP (Current HP Output of old model)
IRS
LBS???
$65,000 (approx)

None of these numbers above are confirmed by any means however keeks swears by the Corvette numbers posted above. Now, we do know that the next generation Mustang will finally get an IRS. Also, current GT500 produce 650hp. I'm just saying if the Mustang looks like this concept, and they include a 650hp engine with IRS at $65,000 vs $90,000 for the vette....

Well...in this case (with is totally hypothetical), I think any unbiased buyer would at least consider the Mustang over the Corvette...I think even some vette guys (even if they won't admit it) might start peeking over the fence into the Ford lot...

If Ford does this, we may have a new and undisputed "best bank for buck" candidate.

The Ford GT is in another league, and shouldn't be mentioned with the likes of Corvettes, Mustangs and F-150's. If people with $50k Corvettes look down on $30k Mustangs, I'm sure we all know what owners of $160+k exotics think of either Corvettes or Mustangs. I for one would rather have a Ford GT over most cars but since it's pretty much out of reach, C7 FTW

Paul and Pitt , you're preaching to the choir. Presently I have a Mini, Prius, Pilot, and 79 Ford F100. I am a car loving fool !
All I said was " a Corvette guy usually won't look in the direction of a Mustang unless it is a price point , extra seats and let me add one more, for his kid !

The 2013 Shelby has 662hp. And even with all that hp, I doubt the 2015 Shelby could beat the 2015 Z06 unless the weight goes down by a LOT.

Jai, well you can see how much I follow Mustang. I thought it was 650hp.

My point is. If they put the next shelby on a diet, with its current motor, and add IRS, we have what I believe to be an OPTION at approx $65,000 for people who do not want to spend more money for a corvette.

I am not saying the Shelby would beat the ZO6. I never said that, I am simply saying that the Mustang concept looks damn good to me and if they add 662hp, IRS, and put it on a diet, the two cars would match up better and you coulds start talking about them in the same breath.

Sorry Ox....

I am trying to deal with the fact that Chevy decided to put that Cheap Robotic *** on my beloved Corvette while Ford looks to

ASTON MARTIN for inspiration.

I don't think you have any real idea what the C7 or the 2015 Mustang *** will look like in reality. If I went back to old pics of the C7 from two or three years ago, it wouldn't look anything like the final will. Your handwringing is premature at best.

"Cheap Robotic ***"?

I think the C7 rear is pretty much confirmed. I've seen enough to believe that whats out there is probebly true. Unless Chevy is playing a game with us...but I won't go down this road again...

As for the Mustang, absolutely correct. We have no idea what it will actually look like. However, if you look at the new Ford Fusion, I see Aston in it's design as well. This IS fords new styling direction and this Mustang concept looks like it belongs in the family (similar design treatments) as the Fusion.

So you are saying that the new Mustang will look like the Fusion?
