Theory about the Tail-lights
#42
Speaking of transitional vettes, the corvette that NEVER made any sense to me, from a design standpoint, was the 1973 with its chrome rear bumpers and soft front bumper.
I agree with you through, the 1960 corvette made alot more sense, from a design standpoint, than the 1961.

wow, funny stuff. you guys are bashing the guy for coming to the realization that those tail lights are a generic round L.E.D. set... then everybody bends over drooling waiting to hear all about the 'camaro style' tail lights that people that have CLAIMED to see the car already have described... yet, now you're convinced that the lights are round again. hilarious

What are you talking about? The exterior canvas "camo" has round openings on both. The crazy white/black stuff you see on the rest of the car is just a vinyl wrap they slap on to make the lines of the car harder to interpret. It comes on rolls that have to be cut. It's rather reasonable to expect they're just going to cut out rectangular strips and plaster them on the body as they see fit. This is why you see the "shape" around the temporary tail lights looking different from mule to mule... just imagine ripping off strips of 3" painters tape to sloppily cover the area around the light. Furthermore, the actual lights on these cars are just generic round LED units you can get most anywhere.
There's no mystery... look at the Omega tooling rear fascia mold and compare it to the Jalopnik rendering. It's going to be a trapezoidal type housing with some kind of light elements inside. Not rocket science.

GM did a very similar thing when developing the 5th gen Camaro. They used some generic headlights during testing and enthusiast were up in arms about the "headlight design" once spy shots were released.
These are not the C7's production taillights.

Drifting
The tail lights will be mostly round but straight across the top. Just like GM SUVs.. Bet me.
EDIT: Steering wheel will be from a GM truck.....DOUBLE DOWN!

No, You got me wrong on that one. I LOVE Corvette features and past Corvette models. I love my ZO6. My point is simply why do we have to consistently remain in the past by holding on to all the same ideas that have been used? Whatever they come out with will still be a Corvette and most all will get used to it and it will be the norm. Some of the styling cues I mentioned were all wonderful ideas and they have had their time. They do not have to be held onto for every future generation to come because of that. I love these cars and would not be here if I didn't. I am also open and ready for an interesting progression forward as far as the styling goes.
All im saying is there are also a lot of us out there that like the features of the Vette. It has been around for 60 years and some features have become kinda like a trademark of the Vette. Its part of the heritage of the car.
Like one designer said, "When you see the lines of a Corvette you instantly know what car it is"... I agree that improvements are a good thing. But at least keep some of the iconic features that Vette owners love about the car.
I guess its kinda like when they started messing with the formula of Coca-Cola. That didnt go over so good.
But, I hope all turns out GOOD.

They might have also been aliens from another planet trying to collect data on what makes everyone on this planet so interested in automobiles. And those weren't really tail lights at all, they were special mind reading devices that steal your thoughts when you look into them.
See I told you aliens were involved in this tail light conspiracy.

You'd be amazed what a proper winter tire does for a RWD car. The only way they could fit AWD with the current architecture would be if the front two wheel were driven by outboard electric motors like the new NSX. I highly doubt you'd see anything like that in a $60k car from a bankrupt company.

The title of this thread is "Theory about the Tail-lights" not "AWD."
Please. Not again.
Unless you mean Alien Wheel Drive. But that's going on the second-generation Volt first.
