I was just a toddler and I still could not understand the 61 and 62. I really thought it was a awkward design compared to perfect 57 and the exquisite 63.

I've heard some folks refer to 1961-62 Vettes as transitional corvettes (as they provided a preview as to the next generations design)

Speaking of transitional vettes, the corvette that NEVER made any sense to me, from a design standpoint, was the 1973 with its chrome rear bumpers and soft front bumper.

I agree with you through, the 1960 corvette made alot more sense, from a design standpoint, than the 1961.

wow, funny stuff. you guys are bashing the guy for coming to the realization that those tail lights are a generic round L.E.D. set... then everybody bends over drooling waiting to hear all about the 'camaro style' tail lights that people that have CLAIMED to see the car already have described... yet, now you're convinced that the lights are round again. hilarious

obviously, IF these people have seen a C7 out in the open, you can't listen to a word that has been said about the car... if you think that the tail lights are round now

It's rather reasonable to expect they're just going to cut out rectangular strips and plaster them on the body as they see fit. This is why you see the "shape" around the temporary tail lights looking different from mule to mule... just imagine ripping off strips of 3" painters tape to sloppily cover the area around the light. Furthermore, the actual lights on these cars are just generic round LED units you can get most anywhere.

There's no mystery... look at the Omega tooling rear fascia mold and compare it to the Jalopnik rendering. It's going to be a trapezoidal type housing with some kind of light elements inside. Not rocket science.

GM did a very similar thing when developing the 5th gen Camaro. They used some generic headlights during testing and enthusiast were up in arms about the "headlight design" once spy shots were released.

These are not the C7's production taillights.

The tail lights will be mostly round but straight across the top. Just like GM SUVs.. Bet me.
EDIT: Steering wheel will be from a GM truck.....DOUBLE DOWN!

You only have to look at the bumper stands for that year to understand.

Some of the styling cues I mentioned were all wonderful ideas and they have had their time. They do not have to be held onto for every future generation to come because of that. I love these cars and would not be here if I didn't. I am also open and ready for an interesting progression forward as far as the styling goes.
I understand completely what you are saying. And i respect it...

All im saying is there are also a lot of us out there that like the features of the Vette. It has been around for 60 years and some features have become kinda like a trademark of the Vette. Its part of the heritage of the car.

Like one designer said, "When you see the lines of a Corvette you instantly know what car it is"... I agree that improvements are a good thing. But at least keep some of the iconic features that Vette owners love about the car.

I guess its kinda like when they started messing with the formula of Coca-Cola. That didnt go over so good.

But, I hope all turns out GOOD.

See I told you aliens were involved in this tail light conspiracy.

You tease about AWD but my Z06 would have needed a tow rope to do some of those cold weather testing pics that we have seen with the C7

You'd be amazed what a proper winter tire does for a RWD car. The only way they could fit AWD with the current architecture would be if the front two wheel were driven by outboard electric motors like the new NSX. I highly doubt you'd see anything like that in a $60k car from a bankrupt company.

Who said anything about an AWD option being a $60k car? Don't forget that certain Corvettes cost over $115k.

The title of this thread is "Theory about the Tail-lights" not "AWD."
Please. Not again.

Unless you mean Alien Wheel Drive. But that's going on the second-generation Volt first.
