C7:

1991 Nissan 300zx...

Aside from the rear the car looks to me like a C6.5... Take a C6 and add a Nissan 300zx.. and you have the c7... It looks like a 599 Ferrari as well in some aspects but lacks certain lines that make the 599 just drop dead sexy.

Sorry but no 599... 599 = wow.

Everytime I see the c7 I think 300zx... google more pics if you'd like.

OK, if you say so...

BTW, anyone who uses the term "C6.5" automatically has no cred with me.

I was observing that version yesterday and if the renderings of new c7 are right, then the it's taken some ideas from the concept c7....

I'd have robbed a bank to buy that car. I've always liked it....well other than the rear view....but I'd be happy to live with it for how the rest of it looked.
I think they chose not to go that route because the retro look is old news. GM took WAY WAY too long to bring out the Camaro with the retro look.
Look at how long Ford capitalized on the Mustangs retro styling. Heck it was pretty much time for the Mustang to be revamped by the time the Camaro came out. So I'd say it's real late in the game to keep playing that tune.

Dear Corvette Forum,

We took some time at Trinity to re-render the C5/C6 comparison shots with a telephoto lens (so that there is minimal camera lens foreshortening). So these are very flat CAD-like comparisons but at least relative sizes are easy to judge when you are wondering how our C7 model compares to the past 2 generations. The C5 model is from viewpoint and the C6 Grand Sport model is from TurboSquid. The C7 model is exactly the same as all other images and animations we've made.

Here are the super hi-res shots

http://www.myc7.us/images/Corvette-3CarsA.jpg

http://www.myc7.us/images/Corvette-3CarsC.jpg
http://www.myc7.us/images/Corvette-3CarsD.jpg

and the low res images are in-line below. Hope you like these or at least find them interesting.

Jim

[QUOTE=BlueOx;1581758168]Really?? Not me.

Geez and people on this forum have complained in the past about the big butt C5, this design rivals that, there's a lot of real estate back there

People complained about how tall and flat the rear of the C5 was, not the width. This design looks taught and dynamic. I'm starting to really like it. I still prefer the new Viper's curves over these angles, but it's a neat looking design.

Default The C5 & C6 look like Toys!

And a raise hood plus skinny rear tires for a heavy duty ATS AWD drivetrain, 3,300lb, 500HP on E85 Turbo, CF, Vents, 7-spd SEQ, 3.0s & 11.0s!

In this rear telephoto image you can see the "hips" in front of the rear so it looks bigger. But for sure the rear end on our C7 visualization model is smaller than a C6, it trims in quite a bit.

Jim,
Do you believe the size accuracy of your model vs the C6? How did you get any measurements?

That C7 rear is lower. And, tapered. It goes well with the design elements of the rest of the Car. The C5/C6 rears look dated along with the round tailights. I think we will be pleased with the C7.

I think so, they are all at 1:1 scale so we can measure with a tape in the 3D scene. Chad used my actual 2007 C6 (and after March, my new 2012 GS) to verify sizes if there was a question.
Thanks!

I am not sure yet... about the whole car. When I saw the C5 for the first time I was like HELL YEAH!

Looks to me like a Ferarri 599 shape and front (a lil new Viper headlights) and Nissan 350Z rear to hatch area with 5th Gen Camaro tail lights?

And by the way. I always think of *** end of a vette to look sexy or curvey. This *** looks droopy on the sides, they should have rounded the bottom where the back up light are.

It seems like the EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (something a stormtrooper would drive) or it that just me??

Holley, You mentioned rounding the bottom where the back up lights are, well I think the actual car ( if Jalopnik is accurate ) has this detail. The rear fascia is two piece and made from different materials . The C6 has a similar detail around the exhaust and back up lights. In the C7 this piece will grow by a foot vertically.
