Thanks, interesting!
The description of the C7 Corvette section on the Corvette Forum home page is not authoritative.
I read that C7's frame rails are made of a lightweight open-cell structure, bonded with organic adhesive, and galvanized with a special coating that gives them a brown hue. This source goes back almost three years, when the core elements of the car were being determined.

This is the kind of radical shift that not everyone is quite ready for; weight reduction will be significant.
My source also states that production will double.

And I just copied what they wrote and it sounds pretty clear and a heck of a lot more believable then some of our authoritative stuff!
And it is a heck of a lot more romantic then a better torque converter in the automatic!

One real problem the Vette will have is that if it stays NA then it will not be able to compete in the HP wars, if that matters to anyone. IMHO.

Depending on what compression ratio GM moves to with the DI system in place, there is typically 10-15% increase in power. Using the current 6.2L power level, 48xhp is a non-issue and I don't think 505hp is out of the question. I don't think the base Vette will be that powerful, though.
