And instead of a new C6, i'm going to buy a tripple black convertible camaro SS, for less $$ than a GS vette.

Well, if as you say, the back of the C6 - which is curved in the center and rounded on the sides - is "chopped off", then the C5 - which is virtually straight across both vetically and horizontially - must be "whacked off" !
It sure is in the eye of the beholder - but I think some "beholders" need glasses!

Different strokes, for different folks, I guess.
I kept my C4 way too long after the C5 came out, because I never thought much of the C5's looks. I finally bought a 2004, because my C4 was wearing out, and I got an insane deal on an end of the model run car.
I traded the 04 after only two years because I thought the C6 was much better car overall - especially in the looks department.
I still haven't warmed up to the looks of the C5.

I was never 100% happy with the C5, but it was the new Vette at the time. So happy they did what they did with the C6

Hey, here's an idea. Nobody here gives a crap about your C6's or C5's. This is the C7 forum for God's sake. They make special forums just for you where you'll find thousands of other owners who have nothing better to do than agree with you. I've never seen so many insecure adults in my life.
Besides, the C5 Z06 is clearly better looking than C6's or C5's.
-------------------------------
Back to the real topic. If the C7 is released as a C6.5 (or C5.6.whatever) then I think I'd be OK with that. To tell the truth, the current platform is pretty good and doesn't need that much of an improvement to be great.
I am realistic about GM's current state and don't expect there to be much of a departure from the C6, to be honest. Sadly, I fear that they will cut corners yet again and we'll be complaining about the C7's plastic interior in a few years.
That's fine. Most of the improvements that I want to see are in the performance area anyway. Better steering feel, driver feedback, and a low curb weight are VERY important to me. Please don't screw this up, GM!

I good guess would be if finally the base C7 switches to an aluminum platform also? So all the Vettes in the lineup use it
That is an interesting decision that the Vette team has to make..

Racing Team Solution
I can't find any GM patents or description of the technique(s) but it should be interesting to see if the C7 does utilize these technologies.

A exhaust sniffing bailiff told me even vette6799 is tired of the topic

The C6Rs of the racing team use steel roll cages and the aluminum chassis from the ZR1. GM is very proud of their solution to joining the two materials and according to a former Vett CE, that technology will be applied to the C7 to enable joining different materials at a weight savings.

Hopefully, very accepting
The three to four years of racing experience by the Corvette Team with this technology should put enough experience on the books that the sanctioning committees will be accepting. However, they may well be very specific as what and how the materials and attachments will be.
