According to a report from Automotive News, there are no plans for high-performance versions of any of the company's upcoming cars. It doesn't stop current vehicles from getting high-performance variants — so rest assured all of you out there looking to buy a Camaro SS (Wert).
This is, of course, part of the Carpocalypse and GM's viability plan. Though this can be part of the GM of the future, this is part of the depressing GM of the present.

i suspect all manufacturers will just tweak what they have(porsche formula)...like the early 1970's the end of an era--for now.
Another band aid on a broken back- this time it's to cover the gaping wound they opened when paying homage to the government dictatorial ass-wipes that helped put them in the corner in the first place.
Performance variants create consumer excitement and develop brand identification and loyalty -this exactly how we ended up with the patented, nondescript Jelly Bean car now being badged by every manufacturer. Remember the days when you could tell the brand of car by the silhouette or tail lights?

The way GM can get out of this mess is by selling cars. Too bad Obama is scaring everybody with one crisis after another. One can only hope GM can restructure the union contracts and get to selling cars and making a profit again.
This performance stop should only be short term. GM is racing and performance.
