Too close to the Zr1. I'm doubtfull that you will see any new improvements for the 2010.

The C6RS is the result of an idea we hatched to prove that high-performance cars and alternative fuel technology weren’t diametrically opposed concepts,” said Leno. “I love the idea of having 600 horsepower at my disposal, but using a homegrown alternative to gasoline.

Gee, I'm at a conservative 630hp with a 402 and 26mpg on the highway with E85.
Never say never!

You guys crack me up. Over the years when there's speculation on the next generation and power levels, the naysayers say the same thing. "Too close to the z06"

The same exact thing was said about the C6..."Too close to the current Z06."

The same exact thing was said about the C6 Z06..."No way it will be 500HP, 450 is about it."

Same thing was said about the ZR1...."it won't be 600HP, the Viper doesn't even have that."

So far all the Naysayers have only been members for a couple years. Trust me guys, this speculation is nothing new. I have no doubt that a C7 Z06 will have 600HP.

Oh wait a second....Why the heck is this about the 2010 Z06 there's no C7 coming out in 2010, let alone a C7 Z06 is there?

So are we speculating on the 2010 C6 Z06 then? From what I understand is that the C7 will be a 2011.

The C7 if its ever produced may have 600. or more, who knows

but 2010 is still a C6 Year... The LS7 has not been changed in the 4 years it has been around. its not likely to change for the remainder of its life cycle. the C7 Z06, I'd expect a LS7 like engine with some fuel efficiencies to it. IE; Direct Injection and E85.

The earliest I heard for a C7 was 2012. Now with the current economy and GM's finances, I don't expect it till 2015. Although there may be some kind of "freshening up" before then.

I hear ya on that!

In all seriousness though, I think GM will be on time with the Corvette. It's a homogenous brand that has continued to make money for GM over the decades through other major economic hardships.

If 2010 is the final year for the C6, it's very possible the C6 Z06 might get some minor power bump/improvement to prolong the product's life cycle and eek out more sales before the C7. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 10-20hp bump, but I wouldn't be surprised to not see it either. It depends on Chevy's marketing department and how much it will cost to achieve that power bump.

What has history shown? Is this something Chevy has done historically?

Wow I would say that speculating on what future models will have is kind of a waste of time since the government will own all the auto manufacturers by then and will be pushing for more fuel efficient cars. I think you should grab whats out there now and enjoy it before they go away...

These are some of the last high HP cars we will see, IMHO. We all have to wait and see.

If it is the final year for the C6 then it will probably have a bump in power.

I love all the negative comments "government owned" and "end of high HP cars" -- I bet we'll see a C7 Corvette and I'm sure with DI and other advancments in weight saving materials there will be a legitamate case for a 500hp+ Corvette in the future. Mark my words...May we visit this thread and laugh about all the wacky speculations when the time comes

With DI we are looking at a roughly 10% power increase, but the c7 will probably not be out until 2014

The Z doesn't need 600 hp. They should bump it up to about 550 and improve the tranny, shifter, seats, tires, and brakes, and suspension.

They should at least have option to upgrade to these parts. The CTS-V has optional Recaro seats, better brakes, etc. so I know they can do it for the Corvettes.

The sky is the limit for the Corvette. GM just has to take it to another level. If GM doesn't want to price most people out of the market, they can offer these upgrades as an option so people that have the money can buy them.

the dealer told us there wouldn't be a c7 till 2015. that the c6 would be around til then.the only changes would be to the front and rear of the car. that there would most likely be no changes to the power of the cars. c6,zo6,or zr1. so i am more than likely to beleave the guy who orders the vettes at are home town than the rumors.so beleave what you want.

You obviously aren't familiar with how dumb salesmen are.

Not only are they dumb, they're not nearly as informed as we are.

You would think the opposite is true, but it isn't. They're just a bunch of idiot salesmen. They know nothing.

So believe what you want to.
