Default Is the hood vent induction setup necessary?

Reason I’m asking is I saw another setup without anything sealing to the hood with just a screen on the end of the Procharger.

From the looks of it, it's simply a "ducted radiator". It's not used to feed air to the engine.

I don't own a C7 nor have I looked at one closely, but from the first picture that's how I interpret it .

You'll be fine without it. I think I have 15 of those upstairs in my take-off area.
