Default Edelbrock? Is there a better route? Is $1,300 too much for labor?

As I sit at the Chevy store getting some minor care to my 14 and am staring at a z06 it has occurred to me that I actually prefer the narrow body so I might as well add the needed impact of s/c to my 14. I think the Edelbrock system looks like the nicest of the add on kits. So what do you guys think now that you have taken the plunge? I came from a CTS-V2 and miss that instant power no matter where I am in the power band that an s/c can provide.

The tune is the expensive part, I'd install the eldebrock myself, but you are way better off with one of the centri kits

It depends on where you want to build power. A positive displacement blower, like the Edelbrock, will make power right of the line. A centrifugal blower, like A&A or ECS, makes power from 3k-6500 RPM. The nice thing about the centrifugal blower is you can get traction off the line and not roast the tires. The centrifugal blower is not as susceptible to heat soak either.

I had an 11 CTS-V and an 08 Saleen Mustang, both PD blowers, and both were fun cars but it was nearlg impossible to get traction off the line.

The E Force SC comes with a tune as part of the kit.

I think there is probably something positive to say about each of the offerings for our C7's. For us, hands down, we chose the ECS centri for our 2014. At 10 pounds of boost, it was a challenge for us to get traction off the line (and that was at 670 rwhp). We've since stepped up to roughly 13 - 14 pounds of boost (with forged internals). I can't comment about other supercharger companies, but the ECS 1500 has a little room for "growth" should you ever get the urge to go past 10 pounds of boost.

I like this aspect quite a bit on the Edelbrock and Procharger kits.

With an add on like these, does the T/C still function? Is it disabled by the tune? Is the extra power too much for the computer to compensate for? Looking into doing this as well, but the T/C has saved my stupid butt a few times already...

I can easily spin the tires with the TC on. I notice it's working, but does struggle to keep the power from overwhelming the tires.

Positive displacement blowers are great. Make sure you checkout the Magnuson heartbeat kit also. I would say $1300 isn't unreasonable for a quality shop that is familiar with Corvettes and pays attention to detail

Thanks everyone. In the end, I think the warranty aspect of the Edelbrock kit sways me in that direction.

I went with the Edelbrock and I love it. The traction control tries hard to keep the tires from spinning but once the tires get traction it pulls like crazy. Zero issues since install. Can't wait until spring to get it out of storage!!!

Just curious if you went with the stage 1 or stage 2 E force. If I'm correct the stage 1(3.5" pulley) makes 624hp and the stage 2 (3.25" pulley)makes 660hp?

To answer your labor cost question, no that is not too much. That's pretty good for a roots style install IMO.
