14,999 for my spot...
I am also first at my local dealership...
I will sell it for 14,999 and will finance that amount over 5 years at a cheap rate of 33%.. with only 1,400 down...
any takers!
OMG... Do you really think the dealership will let him sell a spot...
Someone has been smoking that funny stuff!

Personally it sounds like you are doing ok in life, financially speaking, assuming that will always be there, your dad and the ability to make and share memories will not be. I know it is hard to give up one dream for another, but maybe it will help you make a decision if you look at things emotionally. Those memories that you would have to cherish , long after your dad is gone are FOREVER !!. MANY WOULD LOVE THAT OPPORTUNITY BUT CAN NEVER GET IT BACK.
Hope this helps

Allocations may be extremely limited. Something on the order of 10% of the 2013 allocation is what I'm hearing.
That could mean that big dealers MAY get 20 and a LOT of dealers may get ZERO.
Just because the OP is #2 on the list absolutely does not guarantee that there will be a car available.
I bought my 2014 from one of the largest dealers on the Forum. He generally has a huge allocation of Corvettes. As of yesterday he has no idea how many he can get. From what he's hearing, it could be 20 or less for 2015. It's going to be a short run.
Dealers DO NOT know what their allocation will be as of July 19.
I am assured of getting one because I put my name on his list when I ordered my 2014. I tried to get my attorney and a good friend on his list and he told me that he doubted he could get them one.
My salesman himself doubts that he will even be able to get one for himself.
I wouldn't give this guy the $1000 without a lot more in the way of assurances that there will even be a car available.
Actually, I wouldn't give him anything as I'm just opposed to the whole premise. Why should this guy make $14000 for nothing?
While I'm opposed to paying over sticker, I'd rather give the extra money to the dealer. At least you know that you'll either get the car or your money.
Trying to sue some guy on the Forum because he couldn't perform? No thanks.

Fair enough. I 100% agree that there is no guarantee my spot gets a car. If my dealer doesn't end up with allocations, then I don't expect anything. At the same token, I wouldn't expect to be responsible for delivering on something out of my control. Any documentation would protect both parties from the unforeseen.
You are more than welcome to your opinion but I'd rather give that money to a car guy who wants to restore his dad's 61 than lining the pockets of the dealer.
Have a good week all.

I'm always amazed at the hysteria that develops as a new exciting vette becomes available. Sure I'm a lifelong vette junkie and will be moving to a C7 Z06 too, but not when the first ones hit the street. The tuners may need to get one right away, to develop after market products. We all understand that part. But for the rest of us, what's the rush if one has to get in a bidding war over early positions and or exorbitant prices above msrp. Why not just relax, get on a list at a top forum dealer and if your number doesn't come up until the 2016 MY or later, what difference does it make. Just keep driving your underpowered C5, C6, C7 etc and be happy( if you are presently in a supercharged vette, ZR1, C6 Z06 etc, so much the better). Kick back, enjoy all the first reports from magazines and guys that get their's early.

This guy is a scammer (aka as OBSSSD said "douchebag")...good try though and it looked like he got some nibbles but his story unwinds somewhat as you read through the posts. BTW the guy has 10 total posts on this forum, 8 of them in this thread.
Either he really has the spot in line and got it just to pull this deal with no intentions of buying a Z, OR he really doesn't have the spot and it's 100% BS scam.
I think he the same guy I keep getting emails from Kenya that says he's a representative of Prince Obongo and has 20 million dollars to transfer to my account

My C7 Z51: I walked into a dealer on Nov 2013 and put my name on the list on Oct 11th for a 2014 Z51. No deposit required till the allocation and order went into the GM system. My order went through on OCT 25th & I gave the dealer a 1k deposit with my order. Tuesday 29th it was locked in GM system. I received my car on Jan 15 2014 at MSRP. Later that month I put my name on the list for a Z06. (#2 on the list). On the 15 of July I sold my C7 and I am now waiting for my 2015 Z06, I wont put a deposit down until my order is placed with a allocation in GM system. I wish everyone luck finding a new Z. In the end its your money and if getting a car 6+ months sooner is worth spending 15k+ over MSRP than good for you.

I never said anything rude to anyone on this board to warrant being called a douchebag or a scammer.
Would you walk up to a stranger and say that to his face? Typical keyboard tough guys who apparently weren't raised properly.
And yes I may not have a rep on this board (maybe because I have never owned a vette before) but I am not asking anyone to wire me funds or anything that sounds remotely like a scam. I have thousands of posts on other automotive forums and have no problem proving my legitimacy to someone who is actually interested.
I won't resort to your level of name calling so I will just end with thanks for checking out my thread and have a nice day.

What reputable Chevrolet Dealer would accept deposits for an as of yet, unallocated vehicle, including the transfer those assigned deposits to the buyer's highest bidder? Who would trust doing a potential $100k transaction with that dealer?
