Thats correct the buyer gets $750 off their new C7. Not a bad deal if you have a C7 on order or about to order one.
It is really a lot less than that, because you pay sales tax on the full price and then deduct the $3,000, so your $750 savings in NY or Chicago is actually $450.

Ooops.
And you probably want to offer it for $1500, probably get a taker or two.

Are the tax calculation different in those 2 areas?
If I buy a 70k C7 vette and tax is 10% then my total is 77k.
If I buy a 70k C7 vette and tax is 10% then my total is 77k but i then add the credit card points for 3k so it comes to 74k and add the 2250 so the total comes to 76250.
I thought Corvettes were excluded on this? If not I may use mine...
Nope you can do upto 3000 on the GM Card that I have. I believe its the 2nd generation card. The 1st generation card I believe is unlimited up to the amount you have available.

100% for sure wrong and incorrect
The GM points are like rebates so they are PRE-TAX incentives and therefore removed on the invoice before state sales taxes are calculated.
Therefore, because of the tax savings the $3,000 is like $3,187.50 here in Texas. In places with higher tax rates than 6.25% the savings would be even higher than this. So someone here would be getting an extra $937.50 off the car, and someone in another state may get even more if the tax rate is higher than in Texas.
I have redeemed earnings about 20 times in 3 states and in every single case this is how they worked. So please edit or delete your post

Don't know about where you live, but in NY, NJ & IL, rebates are post tax deductions - essentially another form of cash payment on the total bill. They are 100% POST-TAX.
