Lots of carbon fiber!!! That sounds pretty awesome.
Wonder what Rick knows since he said he is in the KNOW!!!
We have all discussed lots of parts of the car. I wonder what GM is hiding that he said DAMN!!!!
What else could be left besides 6-speed auto, paddle shifting, aluminum-magnesium frame, 2900lbs, better styling?? maybe improved suspension?? what else is there???

Rick is also the source of the "two different Z06's" rumor.
I've already told him that if it turns out he is right, then I'll publicly acknowledge him to be the king of scoop.
But I'm VERY skeptical right now.
And he was going to post some early Z06 pictures that he never came through with either.
I'm not sure what Rick's past record has been on info so I don't want to be rude or impolite. Furthermore, he seems like a really nice guy.
I guess we have about a month to know for sure how accurate he is.
We should keep a list of these predictions...
We have Rick at Les Stanford's predictions.
Rick Conti.
Jim Hall.
RC45.
And all the crazy people who just post stuff that they would LIKE to see as if it were true (and some of the aforementioned might apply here too...).
It will be interesting to see.

i will not buy a $70K vette. I'll put 8K over that and buy the upcoming Viper coupe.
70K vette will run into teh same problems the ZR1 ran into.

No way would I pay 70K for a 500 HP Vette, carbon fiber parts or not. (Will it still have the rear leaf springs? At least give us coil-overs.)

Why is the Viper so much better than any Corvette could be? What if the Z06 is faster than the "upcoming Viper" because of power to weight ratio? Do you guys just think the Viper is more exotic, rare?

Depending on the looks I would go maybe mid 60's with all the goodies listed but that would be about tops. I still hope it will be $60k or a little less. I have a near perfect 2000 coupe with 430 HP that is worth, what maybe, $28k, so I hope I get a lot of bang for $35k or so. We will all see in a month or two.

C6 Z06 will beat it easily at the circuit track......
I expect the Z06 to be quicker, faster and handle better than the Viper.....
The main reason for that is as you said lower WEIGHT.......

The Z06 has to remain 10-15 thousand dollars cheaper than the upcoming Viper Coupe.
The Viper coupe will probably be lighter than the convertible. Also the Viper is ultra exclusive, and hopefully the Coupe will look better than the current SRT 10.
I paid 47K for my new Z06 in 2002. I would have a hard time paying 70K - 23 thousand dollars more for an extra 95 hp and 100lbs lighter. That is a hell of a price increase in 4 years.
The C6 Coupe and Convertable gained 50 Hp and lost weight for no price increase over the C5. I highly doubt that they would make the Z a 70K car

GM's recent pricing antics lead me to believe it probably will wind up being close to $70K.
They can point to the 1SX Z51 being the "bang for the buck" in the lineup in the mid-market segment.
The SSR was priced at the top end of the market, and so was the GTO. They tried to extract a $5000 premium for the Z16's stripe kit and carbon fiber hood.
I expect they'll be very agressive in pricing to keep the numbers managable while they sort out some new processes.
