Some new Z06 info from one of the test mule drivers...
So a black Z06 test mule was in Glendale, CA today, filling up gas at a 76 station not too far from my house. I wish I was there to take pictures, but a friend of mine was there and he talked to the driver. Here is the information, just don't shoot the messenger. Most of it is old news, but thought you guys might want to hear it from a GM rep.
Info:
- 575HP/500Tq, 6.4L NA V8, no DoD
- 11.2-4 1/4 mi.
- 205-209 top speed "pulls up top like a freight train"
- Huge fender flares
- huge brake calipers (14+) in the front and rear
- 335 tires on what seemed to be 20" wheels in the rear.
- it has the ducktail lip like the one in the photochops, but doesn't remember if they etend to the rear fenders like in that chop.
- theres a couple variants of them running around with 495, 525, 555 and 575HP (dont remember exact numbers but thats around what they were)
edit: 7000 RPM Redline, Loud as all hell (Louder than my longtube header, muffler-less LS1)
edit2: brake ducts in the rear are in the same location as current Z06. No mesh inside and looked more modern and ferrari-ish
edit3: The car will weigh around 3000 pounds.
Blue Devil info:
- 700Hp/600Tq NA 7.0L V8
- will be released 2-3 years after Z06
The same 6.4L in the Z06 will go into the GTO Judge.
Well, thats the ebst info I could get from him. I kept talking to my friend about what else he said and all the info seemed dead-on from what we've been hearing.
Long time reader, newbie poster.

I wonder how he found out it was a 335 tire but wasn't able to look a few centimeters further to right and read what size the tire was in diameter?

There's so much incorrect info being floated right now, it would be impossible to believe anything..
There's no way I'm going to believe either the 7.0L or anything above 500 until I see it. I would certainly love both, but let's be a bit realistic.

It would be a Ford GT killer with that kind of power........
3,000 pounds seems pretty accurate with what other people have said.....

I've been wondering why the HP range for the new Z-06 has been everywhere from 485 to 575. It makes sense to have several mules tuned differently. That way you can pick which setup to use based on everything from track times, to gas mileage. I always wondered if any of the manufacturers did this.

So have we finally laid to rest the 7.0 vs 6.4 L yet??
It seems that just as soon as someone has concrete proof the car has the 6.4l someone brings out the 7.0l info. But from your data, it sure seems it will be the 6.4L.
Hmm the 7.0L in the blue devil and NA too. Time will only tell.
I too, am thinking closer to 500/500 from the 6.4L.
